What are your predictions, of the new pricing and specs of the Block Erupter Blade that's being announced shortly?

Still 10 or perhaps 20 GH/s priced at around 1.5-2 BTC per GH/s

Yea, as far as i understood translating from chinese, there will be same 10 GH blade (with some improved stuff) and a 5 GH blade, called "Mini Blade".
Honestly i was hoping for a new blade with higher speed ...

At current prices of ~44 btc per blade, assuming 10.3 Gh/s per blade, starting at 25 million difficulty, an ASICMINER blade won't make ROI for a 33 weeks (assuming 12.5 % difficulty rise per month).

Any bitcoin calculator will tell you that.

If they cut the cost in half, it will still take you 4 months to make your money back, using above "conservative" assumptions for difficulty increase.

Not sure if it will be worth it.

I heard power consumption will be decreased.  The original blades are 8.3 Watts per Giga Hash, so lets hope that gets cut in half.

That would put a 10GHash blade at 41 watts and a half blade at 20.5 watts.  A 20watt 5ghash miner with built in controller is absolutely perfect for my purposes.

I hope the price comes down quite a lot too.  But I'm not holding my breath

Power consumption is not going to drop like that. They are using the same chips and unless they can decrease the voltage to dramatically increase efficiency and then use more chips, they won't see a magical efficiency gain. They might gain a few % optimizing the power conversion.

I still can't believe people paid around 50BTC for one unit with ROI projection towards NEVER BREAKING EVEN, I still think he will rape you all for 25-30BTC and people will still buy them, even at that price there a boat anchor with no resale value after sep/oct

I agree.. He'll try to get 25-30 (read: too much). Theres still a large number of people on this very forum who will probably pay 35  for one, even though i can just about prove that would be a poor investment.  Their numbers are dwindling a bit, but being good at math is, ironically, not a prerequisite for someone who brute forces sha256 hashes.

I expect the same 10GHash boards, perhaps a v2.0 with lower power draw or better overclocking.  I would pay up to 20BTC for it to deliver within 2weeks, expecting to break even within about 5-6 months.

please keep in mind that electricity costs vary greatly. I pay about $0.095/KWH in ontario, Quebec residents see as low at $0.05, and ive seen people on BTC-talk complain about breakeven time using $0.25/KWH.

you forget that some of those folk might of made 10000x ROI already from early mining..   dicking around in a casino with house money is not uncommon

Really, I don't think you can blame friedcat much for the pricing, he did the "price discovery" auctions and they went where they went. (Thanks morons Cheesy ) Though it was certainly great for AM shareholders to get basically 2 years expected return up front. Even if he's selling as "cheap" as needed for a 6 month ROI, he's able to replace the hardware, or remake it in half that time, so still great news for the shareholders.

please keep in mind that electricity costs vary greatly. I pay about $0.095/KWH in ontario,

Yah I was calculating at ~10c for Ontario here, then realised it averages closer to 8, because we get 4.5 days worth of the lowest rate per week, with 7-7 and the weekends.

I hope they have similar prices to 1 BTC Block Erupter USBs. I broke even on those with ~145% ROI in about three days. Pretty sure I could do the same thing with the blades... good ole Ebay.

Will be interesting to see how they price these.  I have a feeling they will be fairly expensive - like ~15BTC for the 5Gh and close to 30BTC for the 10Gh.  I guess we'll know fairly soon.  Here's hoping they surprise me.

Your buyers have 45 days to chargeback the purchase with Paypal, and even longer with their credit cards.  And if the credit card is reported as stolen, indefinitely.  If you haven't been scammed selling on ebay yet, you're lucky.

I hope they have similar prices to 1 BTC Block Erupter USBs. I broke even on those with ~145% ROI in about three days. Pretty sure I could do the same thing with the blades... good ole Ebay.

And everyone says you'll for sure lose your money if you buy ASICMINER equipment... you just gotta think outside of the box people and it can be profitable. Wink

Your buyers have 45 days to chargeback the purchase with Paypal, and even longer with their credit cards.  And if the credit card is reported as stolen, indefinitely.  If you haven't been scammed selling on ebay yet, you're lucky.

Lol. Been selling on Ebay for years. You just have to know how to do it. You have to plan ahead, and plan on attempting to be charged back by scammer.

If you are planning on selling any high value items that you think people will charge you back for, make a new free checking account, get it paypal verified ahead of time, when the money clears, take the money out and and close the account if necessary.

Rinse and repeat.

Will paypal try to extract from your other accounts since it seems now they would attach everything to your ebay account right?

Do you make multiple paypal accounts?

Great logic! (Not) . They can wait with bitcoins on their pocket rather then blades. If btc crashes to some small value, you have a lot of useless HW that no one will buy.
