I took delivery of a new Ledger Nano S today and ran a couple of test transactions before I move across all my coins from Core.

Oh dear. What a ropey bit of software the Chrome extension is. So far:

1. One of the two test transactions I made has "disappeared" entirely from the app, this after it appeared briefly
2. After scouring the web, one fix for this apparently widespread problem is to "reset application data"... this crashes the app and has no effect anyway
3. All other ideas, such as reinstalling the extension, ensuring firmware is up to date, etc, come to nothing
4. The TX ID checks out at blockchain.info -- no issues there
5. Even though the TX remains unconfirmed, so does the other test transaction I did, which appears as normal in the Ledger app

I can only conclude Ledger app is buggy and not fit for purpose.

Buyer beware.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Oh, and how about this for a clanger?

When I went to generate a new receiving address in the app, it served up the same address it had given me previously for the transaction that has gone missing.

I've read some very positive reviews about the Nano S but it's amazing how quickly you can lose trust and goodwill.

A$125 down the drain...
