Its true that bitcoin keeps increasing in value, but I would like to know why the value increase has been better and faster in the last few months and even reaching a new all time high

This just means that the popularity of bitcoin is rising I mean that more and more people are having an eye on bitcoin that's why it sudden raise in my situation in our school almost everyone in our course knows about this one and the people I know they are already into it.
Bitcoin is gaining its momentum in the industry.

Well firstly the price increases should be considered relative to current price so a $1k price increase now is much less significant than a $1k price increase in June for example. Bitcoin has continued to increase adoption and recently news of futures markets opening up has sparked even further positivity and caused the price to rise even further. |

Demand for Bitcoin is increasing so the price is increasing. I think the reason for an increase in demand is that gradually more people are hearing about Bitcoin and are trying to buy it, then as more investors jump in, the price shoots up and mainstream news starts to cover the price rise. This makes more people want to jump on the bandwagon and the cycle continues until people start to cash in their profits. |

There are many things that might have acted combinely in recent surge in bitcoin price and almost every cryptocoins are surging along with bitcoin. Total marketcap for crypto have rose significantly in just this year, if this trend continues for next year too bitcoin might even hit $100k per bitcoin.
I will not say this as bubble but some correction is needed right now for more healthy upward trend.

the price is not a sudden rise, it has reason before why bitcoin rise to such 8000 usd and more it is because of the segwit x2 last november 16 which was cancelled and now people are holding bitcoins again because of the upcoming segwit again till january, another reason also is the people around the community, people have been coming and giving more interest on bitcoin all over the world and they are now seeking to have bitcoin on their wallets and keep on buying because of the price hike of the bitcoin in the market annd hopoing people will get profit on that though the bitcoin supplies limit at only 21 million pieces.. so there are short on demand supplies while having boost on demands

sorry to say, but this pries rise is not because of demand but it is speculation in market which is really not good for all crypto coins but later or sooner market will cover this situation positively

There may have been a number of reasons why the price of Bitcoin went up in recent months. These are some of them:
1. For years, Bitcoin has been in the shadows as a means of payment, not really as a token of high value. Some people knew it has potentials to be something big and formed a community around it. The coin went through a lot of ups and downs but saw sustained by the belief of this community. Having a community of core developers and supporters created a sort of a backbone around it.
2. Like all projects, it needed exposure to create a demand for its market. But being a novel idea and digital, it wasn't until two years ago that it became popular.
3. When people got to know about it, they realised what benefits accruable to them through participatory activities and execution of similar projects. That's why other coins (altcoins) started coming on mainstream. Making Bitcoin even more popular.
4.With the Ethereum Smart Contract, it became easier for the Blockchain to be applied to wider applications. That caused the demand for Bitcoin to soar since Ethereum is traded with Bitcoin.
5. As ICO took center stage, Bitcoin's popularity soared highigher. With higher deman came higher prices.
6. That Bitcoin has unbuilt mechanism to prevent inflation due to its limited number was a strong factor that influenced higher prices. This also helped in correcting having excess bitcoins in the market when people sell off.
7. The corporate financial institutions and the interest of governments created more publicity in the past few months that affected prices.
These are some, but not all the reasons we have higher bitcoin prices in the recent past and presently.

Because it's gaining more and more popularity. Many countries are already using bitcoin as a payment. And this cause alot of investment. For sure, it has something to do with the current price. The demand is just too high.

The base principle of Bitcoin's price rely on the law of demand and law of supply. Since the price increased tremendously quickly these past months it would only mean that the demand for Bitcoin has also increased harshly. If you can notice, cryptocurrency has been so widespread in the social networking sites such as facebook and twitter. And since when we talk about cryptocurrency, the very first that would come to mind would be Bitcoin. This could be a great contributor about the price surge. |

I think that bitcoin rised mainly because of rise in demand as there are no events like forks and etc so rise in demand makes sense.Bitcoins were just $900 at starting of this year and has almost reached $12k and would keep on increase.

The growth will be continued, and the hype will be only widened. Thus 2017 has become the year of Bitcoin. Maybe 2018 will bring the correction, but I doubt it will restrain the BTC growth. |
