Great, we're getting somewhere Let's see how much more interest there is over the weekend. If all goes well I'll place the order on Sunday night. Good idea, I will order airtite capsules (with foam inserts). They are pretty cheap and I think they will be better than plain capsules.

Good idea, I will order airtite capsules (with foam inserts). They are pretty cheap and I think they will be better than plain capsules.
Plain ones of the correct size will be less likely to make the silver tarnish as there will be less air and the foam may not be inert. Also get some plain cotton coin gloves for handling as sweat and grease will also make them tarnish (i.e. the less handling the better)

OK, I'll use what's best - I thought airtites are better as the foam pushes most of the air out. I'll get both types of capsules and will let everybody decide what they want I will certainly use a fresh pair of cotton gloves (already stated in OP). I have a small collection of 1 oz coins (2004-2012 Britannias, some Eagles, Maples, Keisers, now waiting for 2 SBSS coins) and found out the hard way that it's really not a good idea to touch brand new silver with bare fingers...

Worldwide shipping will be around £10 for up to 100 grams, £12 with additional compensation. This is a Small Packet rate - if I manage to squeeze the smaller orders into letter format it might be slightly cheaper.

How will you handle VAT and customs?
Oops. How could I forget about that? I didn't really think about that, probably because I received the 1000 aluminium Casascius coins without any customs interference... Not sure how "helpful" will Casascius be with silver - if he's declaring the true contents/value I would have to add 20% VAT on top of the price I will contact him to find out. Sorry for the lame mistake! OP updated with correct prices including 20% VAT.

Maybe it's possible to arrange a deal with Casascius and let him put the silver value on the coin. He also offers a service to fund the coin when received, so maybe you could lower the value to the silver value, i.e. 1oz Ag
=> Tax on silver + premium, let's say 30$ for 1 Oz and 15$ for 0.5 Oz => VAT is much lower: +0.10 BTC for 1BTC coin (total 2 BTC) +0.05 BTC for 0.5BTC coin (total 1.40 BTC)

Very true, didn't realize that! It was quite late yesterday night If Casascius declared the value at spot price of silver, the mark-up due to VAT would very reasonable - my calculations show even less, but let's say 0.1BTC for 1BTC coin and 0.05BTC for 0.5BTC coin. I will confirm with Casascius as soon as possible. In any case I will only charge whatever I've paid. I'm not looking to make any profit.

And in essence, he does that: f.e. the 1 BTC coin: The coin unfunded = 0.9 BTC Let's say he charges 0.4 BTC for the funding service => The silver round costs 0.5 BTC 0.5*0.2 = 0.1 BTC VAT

Since there seems to be enough interest for me to place an order I will be asking for payment as soon as Casascius confirms what value is he likely to declare on the package. If there are any overpayments over the actual cost I will refund them.

Thanks, appreciate it. However, I'm only going to add some rounding adjustment in the order of 0.007 BTC or so (basically up to the nearest 0.05 BTC). I'm in this for the coins and for the rep in the community, not for profit

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I e-mailed Mike yesterday, let's hope he'll get back to me soon. Anyway, I'm pretty sure the VAT will be roughly what we estimated. EDIT: Just as I finished typing this I received a reply from Casascius: Petr,
For silver coins I will declare an amount similar to the spot price of silver. Anything less is risky if the shipment is inspected: any customs agent will know 26 ounces of silver is worth well over $35.
Mike So there you go, confirmed.

Sold Out! Great stuff, can't wait to receive my coins super excited!!! I received a brass 1 BTCcoin today, but the silver one will be even more awesome!! (The brass one I will sell in a couple of years with a nice profit, the silver one I tend to keep until someone offers me 5 BTC when 1 BTC = 10000$ )

By the way, I ordered 10 1oz brass coins from here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=233727.0 I paid 0.6 BTC including shipping. 10 coins is probably more than I want to keep so if anybody would like some let me know, I'd be happy to send them at cost - 0.06BTC.Actual photo of coins received (they come in plastic capsules, I took these two out): Quiz: anybody recognise the mouse mat?

Just an update on shipping from Mike: The first shipments were prepared yesterday and are going out today.
Half-ounce coins: have produced enough to cover all orders so far - unless you have requested the old sticker, then I'll need a couple more days. So far, 29 rolls have been sold. Full-ounce coins: still working on these. 22 rolls have been sold: 4 are ready to go and are shipping in orders, another 9 are nearly done (one more laser step before they're ready to ship, and some of these will go out today), and the other 9 still need to be stickered. These took some extra time: my 1BTC sticker doesn't quite fit, so I added an effect with the laser machine that adds a gold sparkle "trim" to the sticker by melting the edge, which also has the fortunate side effect of making the sticker smaller and therefore fit. Programming the laser machine, tweaking the program, and making the tooling for this to happen set me back for time a bit.
Also have done an engraving batch of custom 2-factor bars yesterday, so if you're waiting on one of these, they'll be going out today as well.
So it might take a few extra days to get the coins here and to your hands.

is there a price difference for the costumers? ANd what do you suggest for keeping the coin nice and shine? Or it doens't matter? There is no extra cost - the capsule is included for free (that's how nice I am! ) I think the air-tite capsule is a good choice as the ring pushes out most of the air from the capsule and keeps the coin firmly in place (coins could move slightly in the plain capsules depending on the size). I will be putting mine into the square quadrum capsules simply because I already have a small 1 oz silver coin collection in these capsules in a tray.

those squares are nice, but when I hold a coin, I want to have the feeling I have 'something round' in my hand. And indeed, seems logical that foam keeps the coin in place So I'll go for option 1 edit: and thank you very much for the free capsule

I received an update from Mike (aka Casascius) regarding my order. Unfortunately it seems it will take a bit longer to receive it: Petr,
Just writing to give you an update on your recent Casascius order.
I have posted to my blog at http://casascius.wordpress.com to give a general update on where the silver coin orders are at.
I anticipate shipping your order soon.
Mike
Your order is presently waiting on: · Production of 1BTC and half BTC coins I've got the capsules already - I didn't order plain capsules in the end so your options are either air-tites or quadrum capsules (I'll have 6 of each spare). From the product description of the air-tites: "The genuine Airtite rings are made from Volara and are completely free from PVC and other harmful chemicals ensuring your coins can be safely stored."

By the way, I'm going to include a few complimentary Casascius aluminium coins with every order as a thank you Hi! Can I buy some additional Aluminium coins? I maybe want to use some for custom made birthday presents (I would load them with a private key on the back) If possible, I would buy 10 additional Aluminium coins edit: if it's possible, name your price

Yes, seems our order will take a few more days to generate addresses and get stickered. It's getting closer though

Any plans for a second round? I'd be interested in a few coins, especially when the 0.1s are available

0.1 coins will be cool, but depends on the price... The production cost to coin value will be higher I guess...
Probably 0.25 BTC for a 0.1 coin (without shipping and customs)

Imho this is a VERY optimistic guess. I'd expect them between 0.3 and 0.5 per coin. Well lets hope you'll be right

By the way, the coins have not been funded yet. Should I ask Casascius to fund them right away or would it be a good idea to wait a few days after posting for them to be delivered to you?

I think it doesn't really matter much. You received the coins, so for casascius everything is settled. I suppose he will not take responsability for a lost package when you send them out. You could off course ask him to wait a few days and when they don't arrive, ask him if he will not fund a certain coin. But I read somewhere that he funds every coin anyway. He doesn't want unfunded coins 'in the wild'... (funding at a later moment is purely for customs reasons) By the way... talking about customs... How much did you need to pay?

But I want to keep this silver bitcoin in mint condition You're probably right. I'll send him an e-mail tomorrow and ask him to fund the coins. There will be some insurance for all posting services. I haven't paid anything yet, the package was delivered straight to my desk. However, FedEx seem to have the habit of sending customs clearance invoices a few days later, especially when delivery address is a business one (which it was in this case). Had this happen to me once before. So let's see in a few days time. The parcel was valued at $520 which is $20 per ozt. VAT at 20% should come to $104 or $4 / 0.04 BTC per ozt. Even if FedEx charge 5% customs clearance fee (like somebody mentioned to me in a PM), that would only add $26 or exactly $1 per ozt

did you already asked to fund them? there is in fact a reason why waiting could be usefull: I will create a 'certificate' for this coin (like molecular does by scanning them, SHA the file and send a small transaction to the linked adress) to proof the existence of the coin at a certain date. This was originally usefull to show it's not a counterfit. But recently, the casacius tamper proof seal has been hacked (not yet the silver one, but maybe it's possible in the future) When I can do the scan before the coin is funded, I can garantee an owner in the future that this coin is legit and not tampered with (when you tamper with a coin, it's almost impossible to leave no mark at all. But it's only possible if you compare the coin to a high resolution scan) These white packaging-boxes are looking interesting too... (at least to me)
yes, but the tube would be lony with only one coin in it

I hope so as well......... All coins (apart from one shipment that I was asked to delay) were sent on Thursday. I was unfortunately very busy on Wednesday and missed the postman... They will arrive in the UK by 1pm (I used Special Delivery). They should arrive in Europe within 3-5 days and 5-7 in the US. Thank you everybody for trusting in me! I would much appreciate if you could leave a Trust rating once you receive your coin(s).

Where did you get the photo of the 1BTC silver coin from? The edges of my coin holograms have been lasered and this one has not?
Also can you point me at a link where you go the air-tite capsules from and with what size ring insert.
Thanks.

I wanted to share this with you guys: I created my own certificate for this coin (It's the same proces used by Molecular: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=221343.msg2348107#msg2348107All credits to him! ) I removed the top of the capsule carefully, took the coin out, and placed it in the capsule the other way around. Took a scan (without capsule in front of the scanner). The coin didn't touched the scanner. It was held by the ring in the capsule. Then placed the coin in his original, position, and took a scan again. Then just closed the capsule Hashed the file. Hash used as private key and send the transaction 0.00150813 BTC to the public addres. (certificate was made on 15/08/2013) Than I imported the private key in blockchain.info wallet and transferred the BTC back to my wallet (except 1 satoshi)
