Are you really saying that OMG is one of the most "famous" altcoins in here? You are wrong mate..

It seems that you are not seeing the reality, all the newbies are constantly advertising Waves, it is full of people always saying "OH HELL, BUY WAVES, it is going to skyrocket to $20 tomorrow!"

If you have been in this forum for more than a year, or at least six months, you should know that this is really happening, and it is funny because most of those thoughts comes from Newbie's/Jr/Member's accounts.

Interesting thread

Too bad that the performance vs BTC in 2017 is not mentioned next to these alts

One would see that the hype / buzz on social media are not enough

Coins need solid specs to attract investors

Not necessarily if you factor what can happen with 'story stocks' and how they appreciate which is very similar to coins:

https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/storystock.asp

DEFINITION of 'Story Stock'
A stock whose value reflects expected future potential (or favorable press coverage) rather than its assets and income. A story stock trades markedly higher on optimistic expectations about its potential profits down the road. A story stock’s valuations are generally out of line with its fundamentals, since investors are willing to pay a hefty premium for the stock to participate in its future prospects. Most, but not all, story stocks tend to be clustered in dynamic sectors such as technology or biotechnology, since the lure of owning a piece of a company that discovers the cure for cancer or invents a new fuel source is one that few investors can resist.

BREAKING DOWN 'Story Stock'
Story stocks can often be recognized by the substantial amount of media coverage they garner. Because of their near-constant presence in the public eye, a story stock may attract heavy trading volume for many months, until a new contender displaces it in the public imagination. Although a few story stocks go on to achieve great success, most fail to live up to their promise.

The abundance of story stocks depends on prevailing market conditions. Story stocks are commonplace during strong bull markets and flourish during such periods, but are relatively rare when bearish sentiment grips the markets.

The industry sector that generates the most story stocks depends on the investment theme that investors are enamored with at a particular time. During the 1990s, for instance, technology and dot-coms spawned countless story stocks in what was arguably the golden age for them. In the 2003-07 bull market, a period of skyrocketing commodity prices and triple-digit crude oil, most story stocks were either resource-based companies or in the alternative energy space.

While a typical story stock has numerous supporters, its rapid rise and rich valuations also tend to attract short-sellers who are skeptical about the company’s long-term prospects. As a result, a story stock will usually have above-average short interest, which contributes to its significant price volatility.

TESLA, really? Never heard about this coin.

Really it was created by elon musk  Tongue I have not heard most of them except very popular ones like bitcoin or neo. This list seems like top coins + hyped trash coins.  Smiley

Regarding trending cryptos:

Is there any platform, app, algorithm which reads reddit entries and analyze it for upcoming hypes?
Scenario: If you want to follow the hype or identify upcoming hypes it would be nice to have a metric or alert system. At the time of speaking there are round about 1k Coins out there, you can't follow every subreddit to be up to date, but there are some information, which could help increasing your money easily: Just filter posts regarding upcoming added exchanges

--> "Coin x,y will be listed soon at bittrex"

Now you can jump in before it will be added to bittrex you will most likely make at least 30%.

What do you think guys?

I suspect this Forum is well-known in many countries and on different continents even. I am glad to meet here comments of people from Asia – they mean much as Asian countries show a great activity in crypto world.

A lot for he best cryptos are not trending at the moment as they are concentrating on the project before letting everyone knows it exists. Look at LBRY, that is a project that has a future.
