Hello all,

I just discovered a bug with the Bitcoin Gadgets site that was preventing people from completing an order. My hacked shipping module was breaking things, apparently. This has been corrected. My apologies to those who had attempted to place orders over the past couple of days.

The site has also been fully themed. It looks way better now.

More great LED lights have been added to the site today. Some of the new additions include high efficiency LED strip lighting for homes/offices, and stylish pot lights.

Anyone have any suggestions for products I should carry?

You just answered my question.  I was googling for "bitcoin zen cart" earlier when bitcoingadgets.com popped up.  I thought: "Cool.  I wonder whose site this is?"  Now that I know it's trustworthy, I'm going to go back and order one of those TV-B-gones.  Do you really have 1000 in stock?  Wink

How much trouble was it to get Zen Cart working?  I've heard it can be a pain.

Oh, and since you're the Mad Hatter, I think you should sell magic mushroom tea.

You just answered my question.  I was googling for "bitcoin zen cart" earlier when bitcoingadgets.com popped up.  I thought: "Cool.  I wonder whose site this is?"  Now that I know it's trustworthy, I'm going to go back and order one of those TV-B-gones.

The site is more or less a partnership. I'm handling the Bitcoins/running the website, and a friend of mine is handling the shipping and updating the catalog.

Do you really have 1000 in stock?  Wink

No. Probably a hundred at most. (Not my department so I don't know off hand.) Zen cart is weird. It requires stock. So for now I just went into the database and set all of the quantities to 1000. Tongue

How much trouble was it to get Zen Cart working?  I've heard it can be a pain.

It wasn't too bad. I ended up just hacking the money order payment module and making it dish out a Bitcoin address at the end of the order. I also had to build a simple script on a crontab that polls the Bitcoin exchange rate and sets it in the zen cart database. My partner insisted on us pricing the goods in US Dollars internally, and displaying the prices in BTC. I had no objections.

I know the module and crontab work because the other site (Bitcoin Sex Toys), has had a few successful orders already. Smiley

Oh, and since you're the Mad Hatter, I think you should sell magic mushroom tea.

Would you be willing to share the part of your script that polls the Bitcoin exchange rate?

Yes, I`m confused too. I`ve been watching  this status for the last week. The thing that Madhatter didn`t answer my last two PMs here makes situation more complicated. Though he said that "your order has been received with no trouble" a week ago.

Madhatter is probably one of the most trustworthy here, not to mention one that has a lot reputation and business to lose if he's found to be a scam.

I'm sure your questions will be answered, just give it some time. He's one of the last people here I'd figure to rip you off.

Now that I know it's trustworthy, I'm going to go back and order one of those TV-B-gones.

Yeah, those are fun. Any chance you would sell the TV-B-gone kits where you solder it together yourself, Madhatter?

I placed an order on Sat, Feb 19 at bitcoingadgets.com.  Sent the payment waited a few days and the order is still pending with no replies to my emails.  Even if this isn't a rip off, it is terrible customer service. What is up Madhatter?

I don't worry about a paltry sum I paid, but this situation can lead to these thoughts:
1) The Madhatter is dead, seriously ill or imprisoned and so can't answer emails and deliver goods.
2) This project was a perfect scam: it made everyone trust it and then disappear with a lot of money.

I hope it's 1. Wink

You repetitively asked to send me a money order. I told you more than once that I didn't accept money orders. You decided to mail one to me anyway. A money order is not cash.

A good description of what "cash" is: http://www.nanaimogold.com/define_cash.php

I immediately returned your money order by "RTS"; you were told all of this in private. Smiley

Pending = we have your order.
Delivered = order has been delivered to drop shipper; it is out of our hands. We sometimes get a tracking number from EMS. If we have it, we will email it. For small orders we don't get tracking numbers. Sorry.

We ship from China with China post. It doesn't make sense for us to import the items into Canada and repackage them again.

Shipping can take 4-8 weeks. Free shipping is not fast by any means. Tongue

We got so swamped with orders after being slashdotted that I had to hire someone else to handle all of the orders for me. The shipping and order speeds should improve now.

Madhatter is probably one of the most trustworthy here, not to mention one that has a lot reputation and business to lose if he's found to be a scam.

I'm sure your questions will be answered, just give it some time. He's one of the last people here I'd figure to rip you off.

Thanks. Smiley

I am finally caught up. I had to hire a "helper".

The combination of the Slashdotting on BitcoinGadgets, and the flood of orders to Bitcoin4Cash (due to the Bitcoin hitting USD parity, etc) just totally took me for a tailspin. I've been working 14 hours a day for the last 3 weeks and I totally need a vacation now. Tongue

I'm finally seeing the finish line. I had to delegate tasks to others. I had no choice. "The Madhatter" is now two people. How's that for an identity crisis? Tongue

I just got the portion of my order that couldn't be filled refunded to my account. Sorry for doubting you MadHatter, didn't know about the whole slashdot thing as I had been mining coins a year ago and had kind of forgotten about it the last months because of a lot of stuff going on in my life.  You can imagine my surprise when i saw the relative parity to the dollar. My first bitcoin purchase ever was in your store so thanks for the experience.

Just received my cell phone jammer. It works very well. Shipping took about six weeks, which I can understand because it came all the way from Hong Kong. I had a similar experience buying a Holga from another dealer in China.

Use my Trade Hill referral code: TH-R11519

Check out bitcoinity.org and Ripple.

Shameless display of my bitcoin address:

Just received my order. It took about 1,5 months to arrive. I have no complaints on that, I know the shipping is free and from China, so it`s ok.

But am I satisfied with what I got? No. Let`s compare:

1. "Spy" glasses http://www.bitcoingadgets.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_4&products_id=29
-bitcoingadgets.com: 1.3MP video recorder, Video resolution: 1280*960/640*480
-instruction in box: Resolution: 640*480/1280*960/720*480 (Also there is the red sticker on box says "HD 640 X 480")
-actual resolution: 640x480, which is 0.3 MP, obvious

2. "Spy" wristwatch http://www.bitcoingadgets.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_4&products_id=28
-bitcoingadgets.com: Video resolution: 1280*960
-instruction in box: 1280*960, 640*480
-actual resolution: 720*480 Smiley

So it is not what I have ordered.
I don`t know what to say else. Maybe "be aware"? Smiley

Received my order today. Package is ok, device functions properly.
Most delays were at customs and my local mail service.
Thanks.

Hello,

I'm happy to report that the shipping speeds have improved a lot over the last month.

Just to reiterate: the goods are shipped directly from China. For items under ~50BTC we use regular mail. For more expensive items we use air mail. The shipping is free and will always be free. Smiley

Also, I'd like to take this opportunity to explain what the order statuses mean:

When you place an order initially your order is "Pending". This means that it is being submitted to the drop shipper for packaging/mailing. Once it has been put into the mail it will move to "Updated" with a comment line that says "Shipped". The status change occurs within 1 business day usually. I don't handle this part personally. My clone does. Tongue

We used to move the status to "Delivered" and that seemed to cause a lot of confusion. "Delivered", for us, means that we have delivered the details to the drop shipper. I guess customers thought it meant that they should have it in their hands. lol!

Anyway, I'm posting this here to cut down on any/all confusion.

Smiley

I just discovered a bug with the Bitcoin Gadgets site that was preventing people from completing an order. My hacked shipping module was breaking things, apparently. This has been corrected. My apologies to those who had attempted to place orders over the past couple of days.

Hello, do you have any plan to opensource your Bitcoin Zencart plugin?

If so, I'm very interested!

A bounty might help convince him. Im sure he put a lot of effort into it and that is valuable.

I've been implementing a bitcoin payment module for zencart.  There are a few more features I'd like to add, but with enough bounty or interest, I'd be willing to release the current version.  Also wanting to hear suggestions from the community for other features for the plugin.

Does anyone have any chance to define - Where did the owner of this store?

5.22.2011 was paid order #57 (Hm... huge turnover   Undecided 2 orders per day).

So far, no response. order status - Pending.

If the store works so poorly - perhaps the owner should cease to disappoint users.

Or, for example, the community might recognize the owner of a little mad inadequate and warn future customers.   Wink

Too often, questions arise delay the processing of payments and the absence of any response to the appeal by mail.

Better a closed service  than a bad service. You can create a lot of stores (and I think that very soon they will created) but the shadow of  untoward solutions  falls on the reputation of the entire bitcoin system.oin system.

I'm frustrated again.
More than a week I placed an order. Still no reply. But bitcoins sent to specified shop address are already reclaimed.

Here is my transaction:
http://blockexplorer.com/tx/d9e41f8c863a5f20c02e0d42c8569ceaf972b24b50583777e09c39ddd5b2e3d8
After about 2.5 hours these funds were used by somebody:

I wrote an email to themadhatter@i2pmail.org - still no reply.

Anybody knows, what's happened with "The Madhatter"? Does he still control BitcoinGadgets?

Earlier I ordered a gadget and received it after about two months.
But now I don't even see order status change.
