Hi,

getting my first Little SC without PSU. Two more should follow soon, another 60GH/s SC as well,.
Having them all delivered w/o PSU due to customs problems in Germany.
What PSU should I buy to replace BFLs PSU with?

What PSU should I buy to replace BFLs PSU with?

So you're wanting to run 3 Little Singles, and one SC Single?

Little Singles are about 150W each, and a SC Single is 275W? That means you need at least a 60A rail, along with something that can supply 8 PCIe connections. Narrowing that down to a Single Rail, something that's 80Plus Gold, and fully modular (to cut down on the cable mess), and you're looking at THIS ONE. There are a few other options, but this one is by far the cheapest.

Because you won't necessarily be hooking it up to a host PC, you could always use a paper clip to turn the PSU on, or buy one of these from Cablez:
I also now provide switches for your ATX power supplies if it is not the host system: Can be for modular and non-modular types. Pricing is Please PM each

BUY HERE.

I was just looking into it this afternoon, and this is what I would do.

Update von BFL:

Quote
Butterfly Labs
For 60GH/s, you will need an ATX PSU with PCIe power connectors (like a GPU) with a minimum of 400watts draw at the wall and 80% efficiency (80 plus rating). With the same PSU you could run two Little Singles running at 30GH/s.

The PSU that BFL ships with their 60GH/s Singles is 31A @ 13V, which is just about 400W. However, it only draws ~268-280 from the wall, and that's including the PSU inefficiencies. The PSU I linked has plenty of headroom, so you won't be maxing it out.

I haven't read much about here, but do Corsair PSU's ain't got Software to Tweak the Power, that could be useful for more Hashes i guess.
I got my Club 3D before i saw their Software.

400w PSU are cheap enough to buy more of it

Wait, are they shipping the units without PSUs? I'm confused. I thought they said they'd be shipping with PSUs and all the proper cables out of the box.

I'm having them shipped without since it seems German customs are confiscating BFL product due to some kind of confusion about the PSUs.

Can you request to ship without a PSU, or do they ask you? Will my order get shipped sooner if I ask to ship without the PSU? I'm in the US, so I don't have any problems with customs. I just want my units sooner, and I have PSUs lying around right now.

No, they're already shipping Singles with the PSU. I don't think requesting to skip the PSU will ship any sooner.

Have a look on your local ebay for sever psu's

They are highly efficient, most at least 85%, designed for continuous operation and you get a higher power density than an atx psu as most only give 12v.
Also they are normally dirt cheap.

I picked up 3 x 1300w (106a) 12v dell supplied for £12 posted each.
I run 6 cards off 1.

If you get a good size one you could run all your devices off one.

Lol funny thing: I was just looking at ebay this morning for server PSUs, and then you posted that! There are a good number of PSUs that can be had for $15-20 in that 700-1300W range, all of which could be easily adapted with some PCIe 6pin wires/plugs and a simple on/off switch. I think there was even a thread about it recently here on the forums, but it was geared towards GPUs, and I don't think a lot of people were building new GPU rigs at the time. Now that people are still going to be buying PSUs for those 6pin power plugs, it might be worth revisiting that thread.
