Video Games Utilizing Smart Game Objects- Assets on the Blockchain

I'm Mike of 8 Circuit Studios and we are in the process of developing video games that utilize the blockchain.

The basis of our games are Smart Game Objects, or game objects that exist on the blockchain.  Placing in game objects on the blockchain has the benefit of allowing the gamer to actually own the object, they can sell, trade or contract the usage of the object without oversight.  In the future we imagine that these objects will be able to move from game world to game world.  But, in the short term they will offer the gamer ownership. We recognize many additional benefits to the creation of Smart Game Objects and I look forward to discussing them in this forum in the future, but today I would like to show case our initial integration of blockchain wallets and crypto currency into our game D-PARC.

Video games have been one of the primary drivers of technology for the past 45 years, and we think it will prove the same for the adoption of blockchain technology.  We've recently integrated the creation of wallets and tokens into our game as you can see in this demo video.

Some questions I have for you:

Does the acquisition of the wallet and tokens seem easy?
Imagining you were a user that had yet to acquire a wallet, is there anything that seems like a barrier to entry?
If you already own a cryptocurrency, what, if anything have you bought with it besides other currencies or tokens?

I think https://www.augmentorsgame.com/ are currently the best example of a game that took that concept and ran with it. I am curious on how game developers are planning to counter current transaction delays. Gamers wants instant transaction confirmations. < Are you going to use the Bitcoin Blockchain or counter party tokens? >

How would the spoon from game A be beneficial, if game B implements that spoon in a different manner? Or would game A and game B, be from the same developers? < Let's use Blizzard as a example >  Huh

Making the user create the wallet is good.. the less choices... the better imho.  Likewise, good move populating the user's new wallet with tokens... nothing worse then having a utility that cannot at least be tested/used out the gate.

No, you did a great job.

Drugs and passport/driver's license ID templates :-)

But seriously, I have likely purchased 3 or 4 products/services using Bitcoin.  Back in 2013 I purchased some Ledger hardware wallets using BTC, and In the past year I purchased credit for my kid's [Mexican] AT&T mobile phones using a third party re-fill service that accepted Bitcoin, and last month I paid for something my son needed/wanted in one of his video games (some add-on package).  Otherwise, most of my cryptocurrency usage is spent exchanging it for MX|US|CA fiat (e.g.- bitso dot com, coinbase dot com, ezbtc dot com), or exchanging it for other cyrptocurrencies and/or tokens.

Augmentors in another of several games in addition to our D-PARC that put objects on the blockchain.

The way we are dealing with transactions is that there are certain points in gameplay where transactions take place with the blockchain.  When the game loads it reads the data it needs from the chain and writes to the chain at specific points in play.

What the blockchain really opens up is ownership of game objects by putting them on the blockchain.  Previously, when you spent 100s of hours and dollars on a game what you walked away with was the experience.  With Smart Game Objects it opens up the ownership aspects of these objects to the players.

And thanks for the updates on the purchases.  Most of the people we've talked to have only purchased other cryptocurrencies or tokens with their bitcoins, so it's interesting to see people who have made real purchases.

Ok, does the ownership of the object, give you the right to trade and sell with that object, as you want? Will game developers acknowledge your right to the ownership of that object, if they have Copyright on the object?

I see this as something similar as Object Linking and Embedding OLE in Microsoft technology, where you can copy & paste between applications, but with your technology it is compatible with different platforms. Right?

The whole point of blockchain is decentralization, so if your game is centralized, there's not much point in bringing blockchain into it. Imagine that a game like World of Warcraft decided to put it's currency and items on blockchain - now users can send them directly to each other, bypassing game servers (if we imagine that this blockchain is similar to Bitcoin's blockchain, and not some "private blockchain"). Is it useful? Not much, because those objects are only valuable in the game, so you still need to trust the company that they won't ban you from the game, or make some changes that will affect your objects, or decide to shut down the game altogether. The only good usability for blockchain that I can see is that the company can prove that they are not secretly creating additional objects to sell them to players. A more interesting implementation would be if the game itself is decentralized, so in case developers try to misbehave, the users can fork to prevent changes they don't like.
