i have found a vps : 15000pps for 0.2$/hour Smiley

I can't share because the ressource are shared (my pps drop at 200 when someone else use the cpu, but it's not often).

I tried to setup a windows VPS (windows server 2008) , but my miner don't connect to the network. Any idea why?
I disable the firewall, try adding node, but nothing

Right, I've goofed and need some help.

I sent some coins to a wallet I used to have. But I forgot that I had done a clean install of Primecoin on the target machine, which now has a different address to the one I sent to. Is it possible to get my coins back?

Thanks
Pete

You  need to find a wallet.dat of that old install.

It is very likely you'll have luck, reinstalling usually doesn't mess with wallet.dat which is placed in separate folder. Unless you deleted it explicitly yourself.

Much to my own surprise I had kept a copy of the old wallet, and now have everything back in its proper place.  Grin

At least I discovered this with only 1.2XPM at risk, and not the 1000+ sitting on another machine. Big sigh of relief.

I am buying XPM. If you made a large stash consider selling some to me as your appreciation of my work. Note there is no premine or tax with primecoin nor do I want donations. But I like to have a stash as well of my creation Wink We can negotiate at market price. PM me.

I think you SHOULD post an address to donate too. All those people who have mined coins and/or made a buck should donate you some for this opportunity and your work. So do it, do it now! Wink I'll be happy to donate myself.

Yes, i agree, you should 100% put a donation address and everyone should send at least 10-20 coins if they have over say 200 coins really. I'm sure most would do this certainly.

I agree... Sonny, I made a nice bit of coin from your creation and I certainly don't want any compensation from you. But if you post an address, I will be happy to send you some, gratis.  Smiley

Tell me you are joking. You are keeping 1000+ XPM in an unbackuped wallet? Let me give you some unasked advice: Encrypt that wallet with a passphrase (Primecoin-QT->Settings->Encrypt Wallet) and then copy it to your Dropbox. Once in a while harddisk crash or partition corrupts.

I've added primecoin to my charts website:

http://cryptometer.org/primecoin_96_hour_charts.html

Interesting chart. But the logarithmic Y scale is misleading. block/hour rate on averate (100) overshoots target (60) by 66% ! But on the plot it looks much smaller.

Yes, it can be a bit misleading if you aren't thinking logarithmically.  For some of the currencies, there are numbers like 4000% in there at the beginning and, without the log scale, that just wipes out the rest of the chart.  All the numbers near 100% look like indistinguishable little lines sitting on the bottom of the chart.  You are right that the log scale is not necessary (at the moment) for any of the primecoin charts.  But I want to be consistent on the site so people know what to expect.  To get the best of both worlds, I intend to make a control on the chart that can turn on and off the log scale.  I've added this in my TODO section on the methodology page.  It's not a current priority though.  For now, please hover over the bars to look at the precise values.

Tried it on two machines...got this on each:

Code:
Getwork() failed with error code 1

Bummer, as I've only gotten one block last Thursday or so and nothing since.  I was looking forward to pooled mining.

Admins responded fairly quickly to my inquiry and got things running again.  I'm now getting speeds ranging from 300 or so pps on really old hardware (an Athlon 64 3700+ and a 2.8-GHz Pentium 4, with the Athlon 64 tending to run a little bit faster) to about 2500 pps on a VPS with eight Xeon E5-2670 cores. A Core 2 Quad Q6600 is good for about 1500 pps.  The pool has found four blocks in the past two days (plus two orphans), but nothing since I started mining there.  We'll see what happens overnight. I was getting nowhere fast with solo mining.

Got my $130 rack server mining at 3400 pps. Wow. I'm doing better than I anticipated.

Edit: nonono, 4032. Does it always fluctuate?

I backup mine to dropbox then backup my entire dropbox folder to iDrive. Someone could delete you files from you dropbox folder while you were away (or you could to it by mistake) and then the dropbox sync would delete them from everywhere else, permanently. iDrive keeps a fresh copy with every backup and does not delete old ones unless you explicitly tell it to.

Just write the encrypted wallet.dat to a floppy disk, CD, USB thumb drive, and paper wallet.
