markm, woke up sarcastic today huh? :p

I agree that it's a gamble atm...hard to compete with the big dogs solo, but well, give it some time folks.
I'm gonna keep cpu mining with my vps till I get my new cpu+mobo combo and my vps credit runs out.

Gamble of what? Even if you find only one block every 20 days it is still profitable. Mining costs you nothing unless if you're an idiot and you're renting a VPN/server. Tongue

I don't really understand. with the xpm difficulty and reward like it is, it doesn't seem like it will be worth mining soon.

Blockchain bloat. I looked at the transactions and they are not even to the same address so idk what it's for.

I don't really understand. with the xpm difficulty and reward like it is, it doesn't seem like it will be worth mining soon.
If all you care about is profit, then yeah.

Well, that is why the vast majority of people are mining.

Does the difficulty scale in a linear way or is it hard to predict?

+1 difficulty == 30x harder to mine a block
+2 difficulty == 900x harder
etc.

hold on a min, so now it is 900x harder to mine blocks that at the start? well i think it was 7.6 when i started so no wonder the blocks have stopped for me. Wow, need a pool asap.

The genesis block was difficulty 6.0, block 2 was difficulty 7.0 and it ramped up incrementally from then on.
it actually dipped slightly below 7 by block 16 (i know cause i found it Wink

Well someone (about 18,000 people signed up to perform Primecoin mining) couldn't resist to do it...

Non-profit organization is a legal term. it just means that the organization is not a business. but it still has to generate profit, as in, NET income, in order to sustain itself. Generally in the form of donations or sponsorships. Charities are the same.
