I would like to open up my mining nodes to accept incomming connections so that they also support the network instead of just mining.  Can someone give me a quick run down on how to do this in linux? What port should i use? should i use iptables? ufw?

Thanks!
What distribution? By default it should be open.
Are you behind a router?

No router, ubuntu.  I guess it's already open then.  Having some trouble syncing on my local primecoin instance though, anyone share an addnode? i'm stuck back 13 hours ago.

Here is a new list from my current 'getpeerinfo' command

addnode=192.237.175.221:9911
addnode=85.25.134.44:9911
addnode=178.33.22.10:9911
addnode=61.139.95.131:9911
addnode=37.139.1.202:9911
addnode=54.221.225.126:9911
addnode=192.241.183.213:9911

Extras you can add:
addnode=208.68.37.41
addnode=129.7.204.114
addnode=198.199.100.118
addnode=87.98.146.72
addnode=88.190.56.58
addnode=78.31.111.116

You can go to console and type getpeerinfo to retrieve these nodes
Use command in console: addnode IP:PORT add

or copy and paste what I have listed above into primecoin.conf in your appdata primecoin folder.

I ended up having to uninstall and reinstall. deleted all the preference files on my computer and backed up my wallet.  Then installed and ran primecoin-qt again, and it managed to get past the place it was stuck.  I don't really think this was about peers, i think it is possibly a bug in the Qt version i compiled myself for OSX, because as far as i know there is no OSX version.

I'm having issues with mining on ypool with their mining software.

My 3570k submitted 6 shares in the first couple minutes of mining, but hasn't submitted a single share in 10 minutes. Is this normal?

I recommend you use mumu's version of jhPrimeminer v7.1 avx

I have hp9 also.  I think you will find long dry periods between blocks.

Hey guys,

I solo mined a block and it's now fully confirmed - why exactly am I being forced to pay a transaction fee? Transaction has one input and one output...

Unlike bitcoin's convoluted and sometimes misleading fee system, in XPM and PPC a minimum transaction fee of 0.01 per KB is required. There is no fee-free transaction. Yeah the wording of that message needs to be fixed a bit.

To the miner who processes the block with the fee attached.

That is why I copy private keys to move blocks between wallets.

Could you please remind me which command generates 10000 addresses in the wallet pool so that I can simply duplicate the wallet.dat on both computers?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=251850.msg2692552#msg2692552

You can also do this in the debug console.

Note that there is a bug in the wallet so that hte date of the block will always set to be that of the latest block you have copied. So if you wan to keep the original dates, copy the key of the oldest one first.

A small announcement on the status of Primecoin and www.CryptoCoinexplorer.com.  Grin

Test Version 3  of CCEIII is live for Primecoin.

Besides many optimizations and behind the scenes improvements, the SEARCH QUERIES ARE UP!  Smiley

Left to do before Version 3.5:

- Finish the ledger interface to back trace and display the transactions associated with the account. As of now it only shows the current balance.
- Finish the 'Spent Output' display in the transaction page.

I have decided to try and solve the orphan block issue by placing a 20 second delay between Block Notify and when the database management module queries the daemon for the current block/transaction information.
I am hoping that 20 seconds is enough time for the daemon to discover it has an orphan block and store/report the correct information.

CCEIII still needs many visual improvements. These will come with test version 4 as the extra features are rolled out.
