I am a novice in the market when it comes making investment decisions regarding coins. What are the guidelines that one should practice when it comes to making a investment in Crypto currency & how do we differentiate whether the offer be presented to us is a SCAM or a Golden opportunity ?

My Guidelines:
1. Know that most altcoins and ICOs are going to turn out to be scams or will be buried.
2. Do not trust anyone or any coin without a good reason.
Note: Fancy images/videos, unproven "amounts raised", accounts with just legendary/hero status, and numerous posters saying "this is the next best thing" do not count as a good reason.
3. Look into the Bitcoin cryptocurrency... this one may be more important than the other guidelines.  Wink

Are you talking about ICOs or altcoins? There are many ICOs that are scams but that is another story because you didn't ask specifically about ICOs.
Can you be more specific what do you mean. What kind of offer? The price on exchange is what it is. It can't be scam.  One thing you have to be careful about is pump and dump. This is when an organized group of rich people decide to buy one coin that hasn't been so popular before, so they raise the price and people think that there is something going on about that coin, they expect it go keep growing for some time. But then suddenly people from that group sell all coins that they previously bought and the price crashes. So those people who bought near the climax make loss.

If you're new to the market, I highly suggest you stick to the top 10 coins when you just start.
Then educate yourself by reading different threads and topics here on bitcointalk - you will start to understand the full landscape a lot better and would be able to judge by yourself!

You cannot tell which one is scam and legit and which one will be your golden opportunity which will make you millionaire.
We only see the presentation and what we understand by that. Frankly speaking everyone takes risk in search of golden opportunity IMO.  Roll Eyes

Where you will invest and how much you will invest, the decision is only yours. No one will tell you to buy this & that.
Trading/investments has both the sides, negative & positive. The result will vary upon your decision on investment you made by analyzing.

There is many aspects on investment term. You haven't specifically said what you are looking for in investments.

You can invest in BTC, ETH, BCH and hodl until you reach your goal.
You can do day trading, there is so many coins in so many exchanges. Choose your coin, analyze, buy(low) and sell(high).

If you are looking for good coins/tokens then check here > https://coinmarketcap.com
Trade on top 10 to 100 according to your safety measures.

If you are looking to invest in ICO, then you have to be more expert and need some luck also in choosing the right ICO.
If you are able to invest in a legit, promising ICO then 2x 3x 4x even 10x is not an impossible thing in short time.

Most importantly you should learn trading before you jump on to real trading. Youtube & Udemy can be a good source for free courses.

Lastly, this thread belongs to Trading Discussion. Please move it there.

Good Luck!

If you are new to market, just try to see bitcoin and the exchanges bitcoin to fiat or you can see from coinmarketcap about top 10 coins, then you do the research about those. How's their project (beside bitcoin), how's their plans, how's the whitepaper, roadmap and their works.
The offering coins you mean ICO? It's so much like gambling. it has biggest risk to take, but if you're luck, it will blow your mind.
but, it's fine as long as you can afford to lose what you invest.

There are coins that already in the market and doing well. You can ready the movements of such coin then invest in them. that is trading in coins. Again, you can invest in ICOs. It will just take you to study the whitepaper of the ICO. Which way there is risk which makes it a business.

Well, for me to know if it's a scam I follow a certain procedure at first I look at the background of the ICO's especially the history of its developer dig deep on the internet make use of your time because it's your money we are talking about here. And then look around here in the forum see the comments and feedback of its users or investors.

These are the things I did and it has been helping me ever since I step into crypto currency.  Firstly, I check the altcoin/ICO roadmap and whitepaper if it go to go. Second, I check the information about the team involve and the project itself by googling if there's any red flag or accusation about the team involve or the project.

You can try the Graft credit card and payment processor ICO though cause it a golden opportunity.
