Monero is the first choise since it's the best privacy token out there with a lot of new stuff coming in 2018.

Ethereum and Raiden Network since RDN is the scaling solution for ethereum and with both of them working together the network will be bigger than ever.

Some other choises could be Litecoin and if you want bigger returns but with a bit more risk you should look into joining some ICOs in the pre-sale but remember to always do your own research before investing in anything.

Oh, go for the high risk high reward, raiblocks and stack. The last one is not yet in exchanges. Lots of potential and also quite a few chances of loosing everything you invest in any of them. There is also a little know token called Astro only on ehterdelta. Big hit for 2018.

definitely ethereum is the one that you looking for because there are so many speculations that it can be profitable this 2018 and the humor that eth will be the next bitcoin. The king will be always replace by the prince, then i hoping that someday eth will pump up. The other 2 altcoin is litecoin and monero.

For me it is Monero and Spectrecoin.  Both are top notch privacy coins, and privacy coins are going to be the next big thing.

Monero is further along in its development, and more expensive, but also the surest bet in the privacy sector.  I expect it to go to $1000 at least in the coming year.  It is that good.  However, that would be barely a 3x return for your investment, from here.

Spectrecoin is still relatively lesser known, but starting to get some attention for its superior privacy tech, and is still WAY undervalued at less than $5 per coin.  It is just starting to take off again after a short breather; this could be one spectacular surge coming up.

Long term is where XSPEC is really going to shine.  There are several exciting new features on the roadmap, including the first ever stealth staking protocol in any cryptocurrency, and it is about to receive a sleek new website design that is fitting for this first rate privacy coin.  I expect it to reach at least $50 in 2018.

Privacy coins, for sure. Monero is a good one; it's a good store of wealth and great for large transactions. SpectreCoin is another high quality privacy coin, and is valued at a lot less than Monero is right now despite having such great privacy technology (and it'll get more, too, including being the first coin ever to have stealth staking). I will second that mention of Spectrecoin. It it's definitely my favorite choice for 2018. Best privacy out there from what I've seen. And several firsts on their roadmap.

Although, there are many cryptocurrencies available for long-term investment namely;

For me the top 2 or top 3 altcoins now for investing are first is ETH (ethereum) second XRP (Ripple) and lastly LTC (Litecoin).

XLM (Lumen, Stellar) is about .40 USD right now, up from .01 not long ago. It is following ripple and I have a feeling that it will pass it thanks to IBM support. After the holidays are over, I expect a very good increase from LTC along with BTC
