Hi everybody!

Im a BTC newbiee.. who in 2013 bought some BTC, the years passed, I allmost forgot this account, and now I would like to get access to my BTC..
As far as I understand, back in 2013, the wallet was a "legacy wallet". In the meantime the wallet has been upgraded, and as I do not have the mail used to register, I have not recieved any message for this.

This is what I've got, and don't.

1. I do not know what e-mail i used to register wallet in 2013
2. I do not have the wallet identifier, or the private key or wallet file.
3. I do not have the IP that was used back in 2013

4. I DO have the 15 word mnemonic
5. I DO have the password, verified from the mnemonic
5. I DO have the public adress, and as suspected the BTC value matches the amount I bought in 2013.

So, when contacting blockchain support, I get a answer from a "bot" who asks for the IP and date for the wallet creation. When I reply to them, I do not get any more answer.
Looking at blockchain.info recovery options, it says "recover funds with 12word recovery phrase. Well, I've got 15 words, I guess 15words changed to 12 words while upgrading wallet?
Or am I mixing/misunderstanding these two recovery strings/mnemonics?

Anybody able to guide me?
I hope so.
Thanks in advance.

Thomas

This link only verifies the password I created in 2013.

I should have been more specific in my first post.

What I really want is:

Wallet identifier?
Be able to extract private key from mnemonic (ref iancoolmans BIP tool)?

Or- any other ways to access/transfer the coins.

Have you tried to open all email you have ever created? I think it is the easiest way because you may find your wallet identifier on it. Of course it will take longer time especially if you do not remember all the email you had previously. Anyway I'm a bit curious, you have the password and the recovery phrases but you forget the email. A unique problem because people usually forget the password but you forget the email Smiley

@ dolfje
The recover funds link on blockchain.info only accepts 12 word phrase, back in 2013 when I created the wallet, a legacy wallet as far as I understand, the recovery phrase was 15 words.. --> not able to use that link/option

Are the services from groups/firms that state they can help recover for real, are they trustworthy?  As a last resort, I might consider it. Do you know anybody who has used the site you reffer to?

@panjul07
I've searched trough all mail accounts I've had during this time with no luck. The reason I have the password and the phrase, I sent this to a secondary mailaccount as a backup for myself.
What I did'nt send to myself was the wallet ID as I was not aware of the importance of this... I know, noob...
I've even used the forgot password function for all possible mail accounts, without any hits.

My theory is that when blockhain.info changed from legacy wallet to the new one, they had a grace period or something. And if the user did not take action they did not activate the new wallet type.
Is that a crazy theory? Remember I'm still a BTC newbie.

I'm not sure if this will work, but trying won't hurt. Wink
Install latest version of electrum.
Create a new standard wallet, there should be an option called i have seed, tick on that then click next. now you should see a text field to enter the seed, there also is an button "options" click on that and tick "BIP39 seed". paste or type your seed and see if it works?

OP, be careful of people who PM you offering their help. If you do get PMs, never ever disclose, share or divulge (even partially) sensitive information about the wallet, especially the mnemonic which might be used to extract the private keys.

If someone does know a solid and definitive solution and offers it to OP, a good and safe way to proceed is for coins worth the contents of the wallet to be escrowed and held by a trusted member here and only then should OP disclose the wallet details. I know of no other safe way for strangers to help each other.

Publicly posted advice is another good way of helping others here. That advice can then be vetted by other members and checked if it works or not.

@ lite, good suggestion, but sadly the balance came out to be = 0   Sad

@warningsigns, I know! Giving the seed to other people is the same as, "come grab my money"  Grin
