How about day trading crypto? The value sometimes rises with 300% a day for example. Is it a gamble or is it predictable?

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Mostly a gamble unless you have a hot tip. It's easy in hindsight to see a coin that went up 300% and convince yourself that you would have invested in it.. but in reality you wouldn't have. Try it today for the next coin that will supposedly go up 50%+ in value in 24 hours. It's hard to pick it.

There is a lot of volatility in the cryptocurrency markets. That can be good for day trading because it gives you many opportunities for buys and sells. The problem is that it is very hard to predict the highs and lows. There are a bunch of people that do charting for cryptocurrencies just like you would for stocks in the stock market. If you know what you are doing, there is potential to make profit this way, but it is very difficult.

To me it sounds more like a gambling rather than smart trading /investing.

Trading cryptos is nothing like gambling.. It's very different from gambling and that's why it's named trading. If you are interested in trading cryptocurrencies. Study a little about trading and cryptocurrencies first. Then Check coinmarketcap.com for the most volatile but stable currency similar to Litecoin. Buy them in large trade volumes and follow the basic rule of trading ie. Buy when it's low and sell when it rises.
