shapeshift - I used it a few times to swap my dogecoin for bitcoins and it went very well. I like the services they provide
Livecoins - i never used
binance - i never used
wex.nz - I used it once when it was btc-e and it was all very well, unbelievable that even their support was very quick when I had some doubts, however, I see a lot of people complaining that they do poor service
liqui - i never used
etherdelta - i never used

Why do not you recommend bitfinex?

probably because he does not want to get tethered.
Bitfinex is shady as hell, have no real fiat exit and Tether all over it.

I would stay away from Bitfinex-Bittrex-Poloniex trio because they all smells like Tether, and Tether smells bad.

Bitfinex is evil for sure. There are 2-3 others as well to avoid like AIDS.
I am happy so far with Cryptopia, using it for some months and all is fine. I needed some help the first day and they replied me quickly. It's something I appreciated. Not like some exchanges which don't reply or send you a canned answer.
I am hearing good also about Binance these days, it's one of those becoming popular

If you are asking for advice about exchanges where you can trade, think carefully and do your due diligence before trading on their sites. Rogue exchanges are happily waiting for more naive people to send coins to their hot wallets. Consider such coins a donation.

Now if you are asking for advice about exchanges which you intend to use as a storage wallet, don't even bother doing such a thing. Always always always (and if I have to repeat this ten more times, I will) store your coins in a wallet which you and you alone control alone. By sole control I mean you and you alone own, know and control the private keys of that wallet. Shared access is not true and sole ownership.

Send coins in increments or batches to exchanges and only those coins you intend to trade. Don't transfer your entire life savings.

I always consider an exchange and trading platforms are two different things, the most significant difference is; how much coins listed on these platforms to be included as exchanges or trading platforms.
Anyway, if you just want to trade bitcoin, ethereum, bcash or dash, most exchanges support these coins.
To choose the best exchange always depend on your country as not all of the exchanges support various fiat currencies to deposit or withdraw. But, if you just want to trade bitcoin and altçoins, it doesn't matter. Livecoins and etherdelta just works fine for me without any problem. I've never tried about binance, but it seems promising as well. Binance is definitely a  trading platforms, so many coins listed by this site and you may want to read some reviews from customers as well : https://www.cryptocompare.com/exchanges/binance/overview

Etheredelta is great because it's decentralized, but it only has ERC-20 tokens. I don't trust the altcoin exchanges these days. They either seem fly-by-night or riddled with problems (like Poloniex and Bittrex).

If I can't do it decentralized, then I just stick with BitMex, trading BTC and high-cap altcoins with leverage. It's BTC-in-BTC-out, no KYC, no shenanigans. They don't allow US users but since there is no KYC, you can just use VPN if needed.

I use shapeshift a whole lot these days because i simply cannot trust exchanges anymore. Shapeshift has always been able to refund me even when something goes wrong or in most situations they will get my exchange done, no hassles. And their rates are honestly not that bad anymore, it's only like 3-5% premium compared to exchanges, unless you're a high volume trader you can definitely get by just trading with shapeshift. So that gets my vote.

Binance is probably the best exchange out of all your actual exchanges.

Wex is unreliable and so is liqui, Liqui doesn't answer support tickets at all. Etherdelta is decentralized afaik so they should be safe.

I also come to say binance but already said.

They have a great api also mobile app.

Constantly offering some campaigns.

Customer service is also good.

Never experienced any issues. And didn't hear from anybody.
