As the subject says - is there a way to get the private keys from a paper backup without going online?  I tried importing it into Armory offline but viewing the private keys showed nothing (as well as the public keys).

You need Armory to get the private keys, but you do not need to be online.

Just put Armory on a computer, disconnect it from the Internet, and restore your paper wallet.  You can now click on Wallet properties, and somewhere on the window that pops up you can export the private keys.  They can then be imported into another wallet.  I have not done it myself, but many others have.

When doing the export, make sure that you select "Include Unused (Address Pool)"... (I'd also recommend "omit spaces from key data" to make the copy/pasting of the private keys easier Tongue)

Being Offline, Armory has no way to tell if your addresses/keys have been used or not... so they're ALL marked as unused and by default, when you do the export, it doesn't show you what it thinks are "unused" addresses/keys.

By selecting this option, Armory will output ALL the pre-generated addresses/keys in the wallet... regardless of whether or not it thinks they've actually been used Wink

Thank you!  Of course.  I should have realised that.  That makes perfect sense.   Grin
