Your PSU is listed as providing 20A per 12V Rail.

I've got a 700W PSU that only has 2x 12V plugs but each pushes 25A. I've never tried to run multiple cards on it though. I'm unable to find specific amp requirements on either card but most PSUs with 4+ 12V rails seem to only offer 20A per or less. I found a Zalman 850W that sports 25A per 12V but it costs over $250...

I'd be inclined to say you've got enough amperage unless the PSU is on its way out. What version of the ATI drivers are you running? I'm not convinced drivers are at fault here but now I'm even more curious Smiley

This is probably totally unrelated but how much RAM does your PC have?

Thanks for all the help mate, got 6bg (2x2 and 1x1)of OCZ reaper DDR2 1066 running @ 800 (mobo does not like 1066 if there are 4 sticks in).

I agree about the PSU, it should be supplying 20A according to specs. Weird thing is my rig seems stable with 1 card, been mining for around 20 mins and still going.

ATI lists 8GB of memory as the requirement for CFing cards. I don't see that having anything to do with the issues or the high temps but it is something worth noting.

I'd still like to know what driver version you're using. There are a few tools out there for driver removal but I can't recommend those and feel a good un-istall/reinstall is safer if you're interested in trying that.

I will fully and freely admit that I'm quite the tinkerer and after un-installing the drivers I would probably put the Sapphire in the top slot and the XFX in the lower slot with CF off and no bridge on the cards internally and see what they looked like after reinstalling the latest drivers. Probably a lot of unnecessary tinkering that may or may not change anything but like I said I enjoy trying things and that is where my mind takes me given what you've described.

Thanks for the advice mate, managed to get the sapphire working, uninstalled drivers and then went removing all files and then deleted all AMD/ATI folders in the registry and now seems to work ok after re-installing. running driver 12.1 and CCC 13.4.

That's interesting about the 8gb, did a bit of research and most people seem to be ok even with 4gb of ram with xfire.

Now that the sapphire card is working would there be any point in putting the XFX back in the second slot? if the power keeps going out I could corrupt my HDD.
Seems strange my PSU handles 1 GPU great never had problems before.

Is the Sapphire card working in the top slot now that you've got fresh drivers installed?

If it is working in the top slot I'd say throw the XFX into the bottom slot with CF OFF and no CF bridge connecting them. You don't have to use it or stress it, I just wonder what it will look like now since previously you said "when I tried it in the bottom slot windows acted as if I had no drivers"

If it is recognized correctly I'd then probably consider seeing if it can hash. You certainly don't have to and I fully understand the worries about trashing your HDD from all these hard power cycles but like I said I like to tinker Smiley

Even if you want to sell the XFX card I think you should test it solo to see if the temps have leveled out at all. If only so you can have full disclosure during the sale/trade. Good luck!

Yeah got the sapphire card working great in top slot, way more quiet and cooler, running at 525kh/s avg with I = 17 (seen it go up to 605) temps between 72c night - 76 day Smiley.

Been mining for over 12 hours, no issues with the PSU so far, I'll try and put the XFX card in later and I'll mess around with it, if the PSU keeps failing I'll just take it out and accept my PSU cant handle 2 GPU's lol.

Thanks for everything mate.

77c I don't think is too hot. I run a 7970 here at 80c with no problems. Additionally I run quad 7990s at 92c and so far had no issues. Keep in mind though, 7990s are dual GPU and naturally put out far more heat, so maybe they are more tolerant.

Fantastic! Sounds like things have stabalized Smiley I'm glad I could help and envious of your video card hash rate haha. Good luck and you're welcome!
