I remember back in the day when Scrypt was supposed to be the new algorithm to prevent ASICs from mining and it was pretty short lived. These days there are a few more sophisticated algorithms around like Argon2d which make it difficult for GPU/ASIC mining. I'm wanting to compile an updated list of coins that can be mined using your stock standard CPU.

I'm affiliated with Credits(CRDS) so that's a given, and I'm also obviously aware of Dynamic(DYN) from which Credits was forked. Both of these use the Argon2d algorithm.

Are there other coins that are strictly CPU only and offer no advantage to GPUs?

I would also love to know if there actually exist any coin that is profitable to mine with CPU. To be honest gone are the days of mining and now everything is moving towards MasterNode and POS. The only reason being that it is cost effective and does not require huge investment. The advantage of POS is that not only there are better returns but one can easily stake these coins on an old machine. all you need is internet connectivity and a some hdd space.

I am going to mark this thread in my fav list because I would also want to see if there really exist any profitable coin that can be mined via CPU. By the way did you check http://ispace.co.uk ?

Thanks and have a nice day.

Thanks for the link to ispace.co.uk will keep it bookmarked. Credits are worth ~$0.03 each now and every block has a 10 CRDS PoW reward, so that's $0.30 per block solved. Solo mining only atm though.

Dynamic is worth more, however they are down atm due to node code being tested prior to release of v1.5. Much higher network hashrate with them though.
