What dump are you talking about? Are you talking about the alt/btc ratio or just the value in dollars?

Because  the value in fiat has been rising for almost all the altcoins that are now listed on the market.

And the value in btc ratio has been going down for a while, ethereum was more than 0.12 in July, and now it is just 0.03 each one of them, more than 400% of decrease in just a few months.

But the price is still going up, only that it is not following the bitcoin price pattern.

There is no dump going on. Unless you are referring to some crappy coins, not even worth mentioning. The major ones, the real ones, the solid ones are generally experiencing a value rise accompanying the rise of BTC fiat value.

Indeed, but that can not be considered as a dump. I would say it's a side effect of the BTC/Altcoin pairing and it is not affecting all altcoins in the same manner.

I would not call this a dump. If you look at the history of coins, you can quickly see that the trend cycles. The cycle simply oscillates between mostly increasing to mostly decreasing. Generally, if you look at all of an exchanges cryptocurrencies and sort them by most profitable to least profitable, you can place a pivot at the 0% mark. This pivot point will cycle from mostly positive to mostly negative ever so often. It's nothing to panic about, but it can be used as a trading tool if you know how to use it.

It is because of bitcoin, bitcoin now is unstoppable. Look at the price of bitcoin now, so really hard to stop. But it is okay. Altcoins has the time, maybe next year.

Altcoins are thriving! BTC leads and has ~60% of the total market cap but means there are still billions being traded daily on altcoins. The future is bright for all the serious altcoin projects, not only for BTC.

They aren’t dying. The top altcoins have done extremely well this year. They are a little down this week but still very high priced. I think part of the reason why they are slightly down is that it is a small correction. Another potential reason is that money is being taken out of altcoins to go into Bitcoin right now and in Iota a few days ago. This coins have been pumped up a lot this week and Monero as well.

When the spotlight is on bitcoin, majority of all the altcoins starts to bleed. And I think this will continue until the end of this year. It's sad to see this but on the bright side, this is the perfect chance to buy potential and promising altcoins. You can take advantage of this and buy what you think will be the profitable ones. True,  it is too exaggerated to exclaim that altcoins are dying just because the prices are going down. You must know that when it comes to crypto this is just normal and there is no need to panic. The prices are not stable and that there are times that it is high/low.  Search about the volatility of the coins to understand what we are all trying to say. Thinking about altcoins dying because of dumps or crashes was very naive. The OP should read more.

The BTC/altcoin correlation is misleading and cannot be used as a measure of value by itself. One should also pay attention to the fiat/altcoin evolution because that is also very important and the communities supporting the altcoins pay close attention to both factors.

Many altcoins are being dumped because a significant portion of of those holding them were just waiting for a chance to make a quick buck and are not true supporters of the coin.

I don't think so. The thing is the altcoin also have the same quality as bitcoin which is volatility. Due to altcoin's volatility there is a high possibility that in time it's value will still increase. Coinmarketcap graph is really a big help for me in trying to analyze if the price increase is legit or not. As first glance you will have a snapshot of where the price is heading. Then I search around to see what causing this pump and make up my mind to buy or to sell.

But in my view, alts couldn't die because most of them are tied into the bitcoin market. So its either both of them will die or no one will. That's how I look at the current situation and I don't think that most of you will agree to me. But that is ok with me though.

Just shows any exchange, you can see that altcoins are still fluctuating and it seems increasing their value. It is always a very hard time for them to pick up. It is how the market is fashioned for now and most altcoins are really being held by traders which the first thing that comes to mind when bitcoin is playing to the bullish trend, they tend to get back into bitcoin at that moment. I would say it would totally depending on the coins you do hold.If you do see that it would have the potential to bounceback into the future then buyback would really be a good way to accumulate even more cheap coins but not always the case because not all coins will easily got recovered. They might possible to recover but would take time or not at all.This is always been part of the risk.

Diversify, you will hear that a lot. It means that we should not only invest in bitcoin as to altcoin as well. But the difficult part is what altcoins to invest with. We all know for a fact that almost all of them are for pump-and-dump. So to be safe, I advise that you choose the top 1-5 coins. Ethereum and Litecoin have seen better days. But I think that there are still some leg room for this coins to really go up in the future. But for some shitcoins, I don't know because I don't like investing in them. Some coins are coming and really exploding. It's really funny that a few weeks ago I bought a tiny bag of cardano, like 0.007 Bitcoin worth and that bag has gone up x 5 already. I am thinking wow what if I had bought like ten times as much but I had very little spare change at the time. The people who thinks that bitcoin is dying is those weaklings and doesn't know the system of manipulation works, and they are the one who's gonna feel sorry when pump time comes since they are the one who's not gonna earn with that scenario. There is no dump going on. Unless you are referring to some crappy coins, not even worth mentioning. The major ones, the real ones, the solid ones are generally experiencing a value rise accompanying the rise of BTC fiat value.

I agree. Right now, many altcoin developers are pumping the value of their coins and increasing the available market cap. That is actually helping their coins recuperate from the recent negative effects brought about bitcoin's price surge last few months. I have been reading many good stuff about LTC, Waves, Dash, and other altcoins around the market, which is fairly opposite of what this post is trying to show. For now it is necessary to take advantage of the rise of bitcoin and expect it to reach its limit and then start making investments in ALT that apparently continue to decline and others have remained stable, many ALTs come with updates for next year so it would be a good long-term investment.

Let's see Ripple price was just .20-.30 cent when suddenly it surges ahead last year and been going up eversince. Its now worth more than $100B capitalization now. So I don't think we can't call them dying.

Another is Ethereum, also sitting on more than $100B capitalization and surpassing 4 digits mark and trading above $1000 today. Again, the future really looks bright and their a lot of leg room for this to grow this year.

Almost all altcoins are really moving very fast now so instead of seeing them as dying, instead majority of them are growing again which may push the total marketcap to $1T very soon. And remember that many investors are also enterin the picture and buying alts instead of bitcoin, specially in Asia like Japan and South Korea. Dump is an interesting term.  I like the term correction myself.  Much of crypto value is based on expectations, and sometimes expectations outpace real growth.  Real growth needs needs real measurable output of some kind. One factor that cause the decrease on the price of altcoins is bitcoin's price on the market. Do remember that altcoins are alternate coins which have a similar structure to bitcoin. Since bitcoin has been showing a constant decrease on its price over the past few weeks, altcoins on the other hand have this direct proportional relationship in terms of its price. Not to mention, country prohibitions and government interventions play a factor on its price too.

In my opinion, today may be the best day to invest as the prices are low.
