Katy Perry Talks Bitcoin with Warren Buffett, Tells 175 Million Followers About it

American pop singer and songwriter, Katy Perry recently took some time out of singing to sit down with Warren Buffett to find out his thoughts on bitcoin.

The ‘Swish Swish’ singer posted a curious photo on her Instagram account recently. There, her 68 million followers saw the moment Perry met the Berkshire Hathaway CEO where she had the opportunity to hear his views on the digital currency market.

‘nbd asking Warren Buffett his thoughts on cryptocurrency,’ the singer wrote in her post, which was also sent out to her nearly 110 million Twitter followers. What he said regarding the topic is unknown, however, Buffet is known for his outspoken remarks relating to bitcoin.

As one of the world’s richest men and a well-known value investor, Buffett has criticised the digital currency market in the past, in particular, bitcoin. As early as 2014, the ‘Oracle of Omaha,’ was reported as saying that people should ‘stay away from it,’ claiming that it was a mirage and ‘just a joke.’

Last month, Buffett once again remarked on the cryptocurrency, this time arguing that the price of bitcoin is a ‘real bubble,’ adding that he wasn’t optimistic about the potential of initial coin offerings (ICOs) either. At the time, he said:

"You can’t value bitcoin because it’s not a value-producing asset.

At the time of Perry’s discussion with Buffett, the digital currency market is experiencing a massive surge in value, soaring to $327.2 billion, at the time of publishing. This has been greatly pushed along by bitcoin’s rising price, which is currently trading at $10,779. The highest it has reached, to date, is over $11,000.

Yet, the fact that Perry has posted a photo of her meeting with Buffett to talk about the digital currency market, could mean that it’s further cementing its foray into the mainstream. With nearly 110 million Twitter followers and 68 million on Instagram, Perry may possibly be opening up a new way of transacting to millions of potential investors who are keen to follow the lives of celebrities.

Rather than listening to a stuffy Wall Street banker about the benefits that this technology has, they’ll be more likely to take on board what a celebrity has to say about it. This, in turn, could help boost the price of bitcoin up as a new wave of investors start turning to it.

I think it is not the first time she posted something on her Twitter about bitcoin. Recently I saw a topic here on the forum, like do famous actors  and actresses invest in crypto currencies, well, here it is the prove that they really do. Bravo Katy! You help with bitcoin adoption! Cheesy

"You can’t value bitcoin because it’s not a value-producing asset."

The same could be said for the Dollar and any other currency, or Gold for that matter.
In itself it doesn't produce value.  People leverage it to produce value. It relies on perception and market sentiment to determine it's value.

Crypto however is unconstrained by geographic / national interference, has scarcity and arguably the largest herd of active traders.

The only downside I see for BTC is that traders who were never able to bet directly on the market will now bet on the outcome of that market.

It's kinda like taking a bet with your buddy on who has the closest number in a game of craps.  You can't win on the table, but you can make money if you nudge the numbers in your own favor.

Bjork starts accepting cryptocurrency right? I think Katy is heading that way and start building herself again to the entertainment industry to be relevant again. I hope more celebrities will show interests on Bitcoin, this could bring Bitcoin to the mainstream faster than ever and reaching different places, ages and countries.

With the current price of bitcoin and the over-all market capitalization of cryptocurency, it is attention grabbing and isn't surprising for a celebrity to be involved in something that is gaining popularity. There are many celebrities in the past as well that are vocal in their support to cryptocurrency and an addition to the famous crypto supporters would be a big help for bitcoin to become more popular. There would be more people that would oppose the crypto because it is not regulated while others would be risk takers.

Basing on this trends wherein almost every day there would be some famous personality who has millions of followers and maybe this followers would be encouraged then to invest something in it just because it is trending then are we already in the point of thrill or euphoria or are we just entering the optimism stage? Only time will tell then..

Katy Perry is known globally so even her followers won't invest, the awareness she has spread is more than enough to convince others to consider investing in bitcoin.

I am glad that more and more celebrities are getting interested with Bitcoin and I am sure that with the help of their drawing power there are now many people who got encouraged to go into Bitcoin and cryptocurrency for that matter. Now, in regards to Warren Buffet we have to remember that he seems to be allergic to anything connected with new technology and he even admitted to have failed to consider investing with Facebook because he could not decide whether it was a good platform to pour money into and he later regretted it. I am not saying that we should not be listening to what he might say because I also believe that getting into Bitcoin does not mean that we should be doing things blindly. We have to  be aware of what other people might say but we have to decide on our own. Having a balanced view on anything can be the best secret we have to follow.
