"New" (budget) rig.

Windows 8.1
NHML v1.8.1.5

Old GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R
Old e8400
Old SSD
8GB RAM (16GB Page file)
Corsair TX750m

GPU 01 EVGA 1060 SC 6GB - Power limit 80% - Micron - +145 GPU +530 Mem
GPU 02 PNY 1060 6GB - Power limit 80% - Samsung - +145 GPU +666 Mem
GPU 03 EVGA 1060 SC 6GB - Power limit 80% - Hynix - +145 GPU +500 Mem
GPU 04 EVGA 1060 SC 6GB - Power limit 80% - Hynix - +145 GPU +500 Mem

Temps are great. EVGA cards are 64Cish. PNY is usually 72C. It was always 74C in a closed case ever since i bought it (quite a while ago)

Not sure what to do. The EVGAs are new and the PNY i have had for a long while (pulled out of my main PC to put in this rig). Been mining with it for some time and its been great. Other than once and a while while mining Afterburner would go to 30% CPU and my computer would be DEAD slow and pause every few seconds (for a few seconds) until i rebooted it. Even if i killed the AB process it would then transfer that 30% CPU to "system". It would happen a bout once a week. When the card in this rig its just OK. Has not done the weird 30% thing yet (11 days). However, it jumps around in hash rates. It should be my fastest card. And it is most of the time. It will hash great for a few seconds then tank for a few (less) seconds. I notice that its considerably slower when i am looking at stuff. LOL. Like afterburner or the command prompt window of whatever algorithm is currently running. If that makes any sense. When everything is minimized other than NiceHash it is a bit more stable. Also, when i run it on its own its slightly faster and much more stable. For example, on ETH it is a solid 24 on its own. When running with the other cards its 23ish 23ish 23ish 14ish 23ish 23ish 23ish 14... same for basically all the algorithms NiceHash runs.

Maybe its the motherboard? I think i remember GPU 02 being slower (and doing the faster when everything is minimized thing) before i pulled the PNY and it became number two in this rig. IT was in a different slot and using a different riser.

What are some things i can check? Any ideas?

Thanks Cheesy

EDIT: I forgot to add (Because it hasn't done it in a while) that it also does this every so often... https://i.imgur.com/zsIaZO9.png . I think the PNY is the one causing it because when i pres OK all the EVGA's start mining. I have to reboot for NHML to even see the PNY again.

first thing first 70+ isn't that great for mining, i say try that specific card with another riser or put it right on the motherboard there can be molex issue or riser or even and sadly graphic card might have gotten faulty.

Thanks. Guess i will try ramping the fans up.

The thing that gets me is the "I think i remember GPU 02 being slower (and doing the faster when everything is minimized thing) before i pulled the PNY and it became number two in this rig. IT was in a different slot and using a different riser." part hehe

EDIT: Fans at 73 got it to 68C. See if that helps.

EDIT: Can you elaborate on "molex issue" ?

70c on a card with a thermal limit of 94c is just fine, not sure what that other dude is talking about.

Whenever anyone is having strange windows behavior I like to point out that linux is 1000x more reliable and stable. You really shouldnt be mining in Windows if you want a stable, reliable rig.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

Yea low 70s isn't TOO bad. But lowering it a bit cant hurt hehe. It does seem a LITTLE more stable. When it bounces around it doesn't seem to go as low.

Id try Linux if they had some autoswitching program. Prefer to use Nicehsh since its always mining the most profitable algo. Slightly higher fees though.

I think i MIGHT have figured it out. The one card seems to only be slower when im using windows RDC. Which i had running 24/7. I hooked a monitor up and its faster then the other cards when just looking at the monitor with no RDC connections running. Will have to test a bit more to be sure.

Speeds are fine when not using RDC but it keeps dropping the card. :/ *sigh* Guess im rolling the dice on a new card. My luck cloudy with 100% chance of Hynix.

that's odd never had any problem with rdc you might be able to use team viewer or other remote softwares instead.
