I know it seems like an obvious title, but I'm seeing quite a lot of "negative" feedback on scammers which hasn't been marked as such. As a matter of fact, if the users that leave this "negative" feedback ever get put onto the DefaultTrust list, it would (slowly) start to falsely improve the trust rating of scammers.
  • Signing Messages:

By being able to verify if an "signed message" is from the wallet address given in a message, you can verify whether or not a signed message is genuine or fake.  If fake, then chances are you're dealing with a scammer.

This is a heavily cut down version of Shorena's

I'm not participating given that it is a unmoderated thread. I'll just be tagging more often, and more faster.

If this thread does continue (and we need extra space anyways), it will be self-moderated. Any submissions can be made via PM and I'll post in your name in the meantime.
You can thank the busted trolls, pests like gupalo and the forum staff for their ineffectiveness.

I'm not participating given that it is a unmoderated thread. I'll just be tagging more often, and more faster.

I'll open it up to an initial discussion on how best to go about tabulating said finds in an impartial and meaningful manor.

AFAIK Timelord isn't on DT, so if anyone was to neg people, it would most likely be Lauda.

Correct; AFAIK I'm not, but I always give negative trust where appropriate and I encourage others to also give negative trust as well.

I'm not sure what to make of Lauda's post above where he says he's going to slap negatives "more often" other than he'll have more time to sniff them out.  Lauda is not the only person on the DT and as such people posting here should already be aware of who is on the DT that can be called on (from time to time) to help splash Red Paint TM around.  By abruptly closing the Mk II thread without notice and stating in a previous post he won't be participating in this thread, Lauda can't be relied upon from this point forward to help with this task.

If someone is abusing the signature campaigns, advise the coordinator of that campaign.  If they are scamming the currency exchange section, call them out there so others will know.

Don't hide behind someone else dishing out negatives - give the people abusing the system negatives (or neutral) as the case may be.  Remind others to check a person's Trust wall - not just the Trusted, but click on the un-trusted.

Yeah, I did exactly that a few days ago with a moron who had displayed a severe case of shitpost bursting.  Campaign manager said it'll be dealt with come payday, which is fine I guess--but it's kind of letting someone waste a valuable spot in a campaign.  These campaigns are not paying out small amounts anymore, though I'm sure that'll change if the price keeps going up.  It's always strange to me, too, that there are people who apply and get accepted to campaigns and don't make the minimum amount of posts or whatever.

Anyhow, props to Timelord2067 for resurrecting this thread.  I think it's an incredible undertaking, and the amount of alt accounts on bitcointalk is staggering to even contemplate--and I suspect most won't ever be connected.  I see new accounts all the time, saying the same rah-rah crap about bitcoin in one-line, shitty-English sentences.  You know damn well they didn't just discover this forum.  They're alt accounts and probably abusing sig campaigns.  It's sickening, and now I shall go vomit into my designated bucket.

One of the inherant problems with listing the sheer volume of Alts found is the tables become very bloated, so, to that end I would like to try a different approach.

Well, if you are keen on choosing 1 of the 2, I'd have to say that the first looks cleaner and a bit more 'well presented'. But hey, thats just me.  Tongue

How about listing everything in a google spreadsheet page (like the way campaign managers do)? You can have everything well organized in it.

Update:
The problem is,who would have access to edit the spreed-sheet ? Everybody or a few selected users ?
Few trustworthy users, would be more than enough + maintaining a google spreadsheet is much easier than how initially it was being listed (IMO).

The problem is,who would have access to edit the spreed-sheet ? Everybody or a few selected users ? If TL has to maintain the sheet individually, there would be too much efforts to filter the alt-accounts and selectively update them to the spreed-sheet.Not worth his time I suppose.

He could add maintainers who also will have access rights to the sheet.

I would second this idea.
Whenever an alt spammer or shitposter alt account is discovered the person who investigates on this can post their proofs here in this thread in the proper format as given in the OP. Again there can be a google form for this too which can be prepared by TimeLord or Lauda or someone else. That form may be modified in future if needed. Then the DT members can add this to the spreadsheet and keep it updated on any other future information.

A spreadsheet will keep the thread spam to a minimum. Anyone who needs a review may post a new thread here like "Wrong accusation of accounts being linked" and post proper proof in their defense. I know this idea may seem a bit off (so to speak) because then what will happen is that every other accused person will claim that the account belongs to their sister,brother,half-sister,half-brother and so on. But legitimate claims can be reviewed upon.

I have to admit I don't use Google Spread sheets, although I'm guessing Google has made it simple enough even I could use it...

The two previous threads relied on the OP to maintain "the list" so I had that in the back of my mind that I would be needing to allocate regular time to do that task.  If three or four people have access to editing "the list" (echo echo) and one sends the password to their friend who wants to do some third party editing - then the password gets spread around... Sooner or later, you either have no list or "Screw Flanders" five hundred times...

I also feel that some of the flack recently being generated was aimed at Lauda who didn't do himself any favours by playing into their Belly Aching TM instead of just letting the exposed UID/Alts huff and puff and blowing out to sea.

At the top of the first post I can add links to the "Jump To:" section eg:

Quote
Jump to: Form | Known Alts thread Mk II Mk I | The list 2018 Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 2019 Q1 (and so on...) | BCT PGP/GPG Public Key Database | Resources | Level of awesomeness | Donations | Mk III | Last Edited 10th December 2017

"The list" echo echo doesn't really need to be on the first page as long as there is a clear path to its location and back to the OP, besides anyone worth their weight in paper wallets can use the search function at the top right of the all pages of this (and every thread) to search "the list" echo echo skies darken...

OTOH ...

I *could* start a separate thread for *just* "the list" echo echo ground shakes, trees sway which I could lock and post a summary of the previous Quarter's findings.  That way the list follows on from one quarter to the next.  Investigations, Red Paint TM and Belly Aching TM here; summary list in a locked thread used for reference only over there.

No?

Actually you don't share a pw to give others access to edit the sheet. You have to enter a persons email address and send them access. If you planned on giving others access to a sheet, just choose 2 ppl you trust not to allow others access

Let me kickstart the process of neg tagging by starting out with yet another alt account of our old friend AngelFalls and his legion of alt accounts. First three are already negged though.

Accounts Connected:

ZeusIsBack

AngelFalls,

Lauda_1,

Lauda_V,

mastaromer1,

Proof:

Why ZeusIsBack and AngelFalls are connected? This has been confirmed by lauda and the discussion was in this thread in these two pages.

This guy is trying to sell accounts as well as an alt of this AngelFalls and his related alt accounts which have been neg tagged previously.
Previous attempts at selling accounts - The language is similar and they all ask for "good feedback" from their "customers"  Shocked
