Volatility is not good for adoption of bitcoin as a currency. For that it is more important to find a stable pricepoint and hold it.

Everyone loves to make money. If bitcoin continues to rise in value, more shops will want to cash in on the trend and start to adopt bitcoins. As more shops take bitcoins, more will follow leading to a positive spiral.

i think that rise in value for bitcoin is good thing because more people will be interested, some won't be afraid anymore to use it as some are still afraid that they might lose their money after price fall

also this will attract traders, so they will buy/sell so price will rise because of them too, and also more stores will accept them, so every price rise is good for currency like bitcoin
