I've seen different wallet types by now, but every wallet seems more or less the same or looks like using the same source code with possibly slight modifications to the name and/or layout. Are most of the wallets somehow sharing source code for a big part and if so, if a serious bug / loophole is found, will it then affect all other wallets immediately?

Very strange that no one seems to be bothered by this or at least have some opinion. I think a lot of (Qt based) wallets probably share a lot of code and when a significant vulnarability is found in one of them, then it is likely that other wallets suffer from the same defect.
