No hash rate was 'taken away', the hash rate was just not reporting correctly - that does not actually affect your real hash rate or shares submitted / paid out.

The issue should now be resolved and you should now be seeing correct hash rates displayed.

All altcoins are copy-paste of Litecoin ... still many of them cost a lot of money on market, like feathercoin currently goes for 9 cents

It doesn't matter what is technology under coin, what matters is team behind it and if they will make people and businesses use it.

Your dollars in pocket are just a paper with printed images on them ... like ANY other currency .. or stamp .. or postcard .. or flyer ... still you use it and value it. Because team behind it made whole world use it.

i'll stop you right. there. not all alt coins are derived from litecoin. MEC, XPM, and PPC all arose from BTC source. further more it doesn't matter if it is a litecoin clone. some of the clones are actually better than litecoin anyway. good idea to buy a couple hundred of each coin while they are cheap and just forget about them a few months at a time. sure fire investment strategy.

My negative trust rating is reflective of a personal vendetta by someone on default trust.

Eh.. you just listed a bunch of SHITCOINS dude.. what is your point?

Of course, another one. You don't enjoy collecting BTC from air anymore? By selling KNC shares that non-exist? You come here to sell your KNC shares or you invented some alt coin shares that may exist in 6 months? Go away, don't pollute the alt coins threads!

I want some Grandcoins, just not getting them.

EDIT: now 3 pages, lol.

You are correct. best way to get lots of posts is to have lots of problems.

Coin off to a good start, diff worked ass it should, no problems with instamining.

Main post updated with pool, and fixed the problem with the google zip

This coin may not be any different to many others, but if you keep attentive and carry on developing it, add some services and so on. I think it can do well.

+1

I loved how first pool appeared 2 hours after announcement. And no technical problems with wallet or pool makes it very impressive start. Which makes me believe that there are very good developers behind it and we have big chances for coin to have future. And looks like many other people think same :-)

Wow, into the 3000 blocks already. looks like it's fallen to 60 MH/s, but that's still pretty healthy, most of the scrypt coins are sitting at round 20-40.

Listen fucktard are you 12years old? ive been reading your trolling, that pukes from your fingers, for a couple of months now, and i dont appreciate being a victim of it myself.

There was 8 million coins minted the first day, The people with all those coins are these guys pumping several megahash when the coin was released. And good on them thats whats mining is all about, but they maybe or maybe not stay and support it, while ill always be here. my 2x  7870s diddnt really stand a chance to get many, however i was able to get myself some before the onslaught, but there is no scam or anything dodgie involved infact the network 60Mhash within just a few hours. their blocks was 5000 and so was everybody elses, whats the problem?

The block rewards  purpose is to give the early adaptors a head start. Which everyone except you can understand.

So go back to your stupid premined mastercard coin, and do me a favor by adding me to your ignore list

developer needs to be here everyday as bitcointalk centre of crypto universe
and offer bounties, developments etc

get interest going, good coin, good logo, good feature etc
but hope developer takes this constructive criticism and acts on it

We have now added Grandcoin to the new MiningPool.co pool:

https://www.miningpool.co

For those of you who already use this pool for other coins you will need to add the coin under settings so it is visible in your dashboard.

Due to ongoing problems with grandcoin.miningpool.co the old pool will be closed down in 30 days - please withdraw all coins before 18/09/2013

miningpool.co isn't paying right.  Over 48 hours I got paid less than the 24 hour estimated rewards.  It's less even using the highest difficulty for the time.

Hi,

I have following problem with GDC solo mining.

I have found a block (cgminer says 1 accepted), but I can't see any transaction in my wallet. The only indication of transaction is "Number of transactions: 1". But nothing in recent transactions.

It looks like a bug and I lost my first 1000 GDC Smiley

My address is gKuLTxXZCuh8ZJscTiRwnFRBepUnFFW8rD if it can help.

Thanks

If you want Grandcoin to be added on http://coinmarketcap.com/  please add functionality to the blockexplorer.

"If you want a certain coin added, please give a link to a working block explorer.  A block crawler such as http://www.grandcoin.org/blocks/ is not sufficient since it only gives block count information (AFAIK), and block reward usually changes over time."

If it's complete post a request to be listed:

Anything planned for Grandcoin?

Jup, a decent pump perhaps  Grin. GDC's are extremely cheap, could pay well to collect them.
My guess is there are about 138 million coins and the price severely undervalued.

My wallet will not download the block chain either, just like this person mentioned:

I cannot for the life of me connect to the network to download the blockchain, my settings are correct, maybe my port?
listen=1
daemon=1
server=1
rpcuser=have name
rpcpassword=have password
rpcport=12378
rpcallowip=*
rpcconnect=127.0.0.1

I tried this but removed "rpcconnect=127.0.0.1" and added

addnode=68.43.193.187
addnode=24.10.97.6
addnode=24.236.189.198

as suggested two posts down, so my conf file looks like this:

listen=1
daemon=1
server=1
rpcuser=have name
rpcpassword=have password
rpcport=12378
rpcallowip=*
addnode=68.43.193.187
addnode=24.10.97.6
addnode=24.236.189.198

Does this conf file go into the same folder as the "grandcoin-qt.exe" or does it go into the local/roaming profile folder somewhere, and do I have to have some sort of usable username and password, and where to I get/find/create these?

It goes into roaming/grandcoin

Password and username is anything you like. That's what you will specify in for example cgminer -u and -p switches.

I'm wondering what the network hashrate is about.

This is very interesting coin with good features that rewards miners to keep network healthy. Just bought bunch of coins from cryptsy ... to the moon!
Seems that GrandCoin needs some marketing and more active role from devs to take it to next level.

Difficulty is getting up there so here's another pool. For the first 100 blocks, block finders will be rewarded an additional 500 Grandcoins! Come join us at:

CryptoHashery - http://gdc.cryptohashery.com

Pool Features:
500 Grandcoin block reward for finders of the first 100 blocks
Stratum PPLNS with VARDIFF
Pays full block reward including any transaction fees or super blocks
1% Fee
Pay after 50 Confirmations

Thanks! Joined! I'm mining with a small hashrate currently, but it will be more in the future. Allthough i'm mining a couple of coins currently, many of them are profitable now and I don't have enough minign rigs available hehe.

Edit; going to try that "gdc.nordicminers.eu (http://gdc.nordicminers.eu)" pool too now, as the hashrate on  http://gdc.cryptohashery.com is still low Sad

I see my account is locked on http://gdc.cryptohashery.com.  Did that "as the hashrate on  http://gdc.cryptohashery.com is still low" message do that? That would be a shame ^^

However, mining @ http://gdc.nordicminers.eu is working fine for me now.

Hm.. Or some people or groups have incentives in increasing prices. For example because they want the prices to raise to they can sell (/ dump) their coins at a higher price? I don't know.

I really do think the coin is undervalued. It's got a great name, no pre-mine, 45 second blocks, the super blocks are fun and a nice 30 block retarget. If it were to obtain a market cap on par with Digital Coin, it would be valued at around 0.00003500 up from it's current 0.00000190 which is huge growth potential.

I think part of the problem is the 30 block diff retarget so if the difficulty is jumping all over the place, you might not see what the calculator says at any given time.

Despite that, I am shutting down the Grandcoin pool we launched yesterday because we are seeing an unacceptably high number of rejected blocks. I've already sent an email to all the people who signed up at the pool. I'm hoping we can resolve the problem with the coin and if we do, re-launch the pool with an increased block reward.

Been playing around with coins for a little bit, figured out how to setup scrypt miners and get in a pool.
Unfortunately I can't seem to get the wallet to sync. I finally found the roaming dir and thought that it would work once I added a conf file, but no luck.
Another thing I had considered is that I'm currently tethered to my phone for internet and I wasn't sure if that would possibly interfere.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Seeing unusual number of hashes needed to find a block with this coin, on all pools I've checked. Including my own. I'm aware of the difficulty adjustment which happens often, but it seems the actual coin is behaving badly. I'm hoping Mr. Grandcoin can look over his code and release a new version soon. Until then this coin needs to be considered a 10 difficulty coin and not ~2 which the coin reports.

So true my friend. Have a look at Cryptsy at the moment now. Having a nice upward trend. A bit stronger that other coins today.
Also should be up on Coinmarketcap one of these days.

Be sure to let the devs and pools know they may see a increase in server load.

You must realize this is a very fair coin on the re-target rate. Meaning if you check the value on Coinwarz (rapid increase the last 2 days) and compare
that with the Cryptsy price (up) then you will see difficulty changing based on the firepower aimed. If you check the block explorer for GDC you will
find that in the last hour alone the hashes aimed at it have gone up 2.5 times in ONE HOUR. So if miners pull their guns away you will see a low hash
hence low difficulty. This keeps it so that if crazy guns get fired at the coin when it goes up 5x value then people CANNOT flood the market with coins.
That is why you see this coin has been around for many months but a majority of the coins are not yet mined. All coins should be this way. And most
are. I hate instamined coins and that is why I trust Grandcoin here with my money. Even if it hits rank #1 on coinwarz it will not affect the price.
Everything balances out. The demand, mining power, total coins... It should be a lesson to new Altcoins coming out. Be FAIR. Make sure it takes at
least a few years to get all those coins. There are pools that automatically aim firepower within minutes to top coins. So a fast re-target these
days is a requirement I would say.

The Difficulty is exactly what it should be Smiley

You can get the total coins from the Block Explorer by multiplying the number of blocks times the
block reward right? It's a bigger coin for sure but not like some. That is why it's inexpensive per coin.
It's relative.

GDC is up today by double on Cryptsy... again. Very nice. This weekend should be even better
after it's get up on Coinmarketcap.

Are there any good pools for grandcoin or mostly a solo mine coin?  Most pools I find either require you to register before seeing how much hash power there is on that pool, or in most cases pool has zero hash rate, or pool is no longer there.  Preferably pools that have a US presence.

Thanks.

Yeah, join us at http://gdc.nordicminers.eu/. I don't own it or something, but I'm happily mining over there.

You need to register, but who cares? I haven't received a confirmation e-mail I think, so you can make up  an e-mailaddress. Alltough, that emailaddress can change your password if they want.

Thanks. Couple issues with that pool:

- looks like a European based pool so rejects may be higher from the US
- I work day to day on an ipad and that pool software has no way to register from their mobile view and no way to switch to desktop view. Not a nice experience.

Same here. Happend when I was trying to sell some GDC while the website was really laggy. Now, submit a ticket and wait untill it's fixed. I did that too.

I hope it won't take to long to audit my balance, as we're all going to loose money if the price will decrease.

Same problem here, I tweeted @Cryptsy and left a support ticket too.

Is there any chance that you could include the total number of coins available on the block explorer because apparently the guy from coinmarketcap can't use the actual explorer because of the super blocks. Would be nice to help improve this currency.

The market was automatically suspended due to a couple reversals. We will review the reversals to ensure there is nothing wrong with the chain or coin (most likely there is not) and we will reactive it once that review is complete. It happens. Remember it's the coin dev's responsibility to make sure all is ok, not cryptsy, but they gotto be sure all is fine, they simply protect clients.

Cryptsy is solid. The one time I missed some coins they brought them back after an audit.

In the meantime, I have put up a dedicated server to mine this pool.  Are you sick of lag and pools that just don't work?  Then try this...

GDC.DEDICATEDPOOL.COM

Sign up, mine without interruptions or lag.

- dedicated server with gobs of cpu/memory and network bandwidth
- 60 confirms
- payouts work and everything tested hourly and works!
- backups every 30 minutes.  These pool operators losing databases is not acceptable.
- an admin who is a computer engineer and knows what the hell he's doing.

Like a turn in the wrong direction. What gdc pools exist use the same front end as this.  Can't do crap on a mobile device. Not even register. Is there a way to pass something to it so it will be in standard desktop view. Unlike most websites this has no option to switch to desktop view.

While Cryptsy is investigating the issue with Grandcoin, I tried to help getting GDC on CoinMarketCap. It would be nice to have GDC back on Cryptsy AND appear on Coinmarketcap, could lead to a nice pump. As you may or may not know, Gliss (guy from coinmarketcap) stated that GDC can't have an accurate number of coins based on the blockcount visible on the block explorer, because of the randomness of the "super blocks". To see how much wrong the calculation could be, I made this spreadsheet :

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AoVGFXWafNoRdEh1YURvd0c0dm1SVGgteW5Nc1RyZVE&usp=drive_web#gid=0

We can see that if we take the average of coins generated by the super blocks, the worst case gives us 0.38% error. This error is the worst case, it means that the calculation would be 0.38% wrong if everyone who got those superblocks got only the minimum amount or the maximum but never an amount between min and max (which is clearly not possible), so the error has to be even less than that. I truly think that it's really not that bad, and so I posted it on the appropriated thread (coinmarketcap thread, page 28) and also messaged Gliss. I don't know if it will be added, but I think if we are enough to say that this error is ok to deal with, then GDC could pop on CoinMarketCap Smiley

Feel free to comment on my (basic and quickly done) calculations.

Best regards.

This spreadsheet is only intended to show Gliss from Coinmarketcap that the random super blocks from GDC are not a problem to calculate the total coins. I don't think it's related with Cryptsy ...

All my miners are servers basically. Monitorless with logmein remote access. I manage all my accounts thru my ipad. I manage all my miners thru logmein thru my ipad. I never go to the physical computers mining and sit there with a keyboard and mouse. I have 5 mining rigs and manage them all remotely. When I start to setup a new coin I go to the website for the pool on my ipad and register an account and setup my workers. Can't do either of this in the mobile view. Easy enough would be to have the ability to switch the website to desktop view.

Take a deep breath...

Most people are running headless miners, I would imagine. Although odd the only device you have with a screen is an iPad, there is a simple workaround: install Chrome...and set the default view to "desktop" instead of mobile.

Beats complaining for days on a forum.

Guys sorry about the GDC suspension today. Essentially we had a couple reversals meaning a coin deposited from the chain suddenly vanished from the chain. Nothing to worry about it happens to many coins but the system immediately detects these things and suspends the markets so the security manager can review it. Took us a bit longer to put it back up today with the other problems we had with growth. So sorry for the delays and happy trading!

I used GDC.DEDICATEDPOOL.COM and I mined 2500 GDC in 8 hours at a speed of 3.3MB/s

Don't know about his pool but can answer in general. This coins difficulty varies alot, and I mean alot. Which makes the "snapshot" wrong because the difficulty can suddenly go through the roof. I'm still hoping the coders will fix this issue and make the coin more average. So for now you can mostly ignore the dashboards/coinwarz/whatever and just check what you receive / day and go from there with your own calculations.

Sad to say, this is the reality with fast diff switching coins. If you check the block graphs page you get a feeling for how it is.

I'll include a block graph to show you guys: http://gdc.nordicminers.eu/index.php?page=statistics&action=blocks and that for only the last 25 blocks.

Pools shutting down march 31st. Don't have time to support them, sorry for the inconvenience.

I hear you.  I run GDC.DEDICATEDPOOL.COM

I've been able to get the blocks flowing quicker, but honestly, this coin is an odd one.  I'm been playing with stratum settings in hope we can see more constant results.  So far so good, go look at the blocks now.

I've definitely done something because for a bit there it was at 500%+ per block.  Just look at the graph, we're down to around 100-150% now, where we should be and that's acceptable.

Keep the commenting coming in, I'm trying the best I can to tweak this coin Smiley  Shit I'm mining it too lol

Thanks!

Early days but no such issues here. I put in my Cryptsy deposit address for GDC in this morning, and within 20 mins, the couple of hundred GDC I mined overnight, arrived perfectly. Same with CSC.DEDICATEDPOOL.COM last night.

What are you talking about.  It's paying out just fine.  Send me your transaction or wallet address so I can explore any issues you may have.

When you say 'no payouts' are you talking about that when you're actually trying to transfer coin to your wallet, or just that the coins aren't what is estimated?  If it is the latter, just look at the blocks section and you'll see there are 200-300% some blocks.  This coin is odd, the difficultly changes so much that the estimates are not correct.

Anyhow, let me know what you mean so I can help you.

Guys, how many GDC's are you mining per day?
I used GDC.DEDICATEDPOOL.COM and I mined 2500 GDC in 8 hours at a speed of 3.3MB/s
Looking at stats I was supposed to mine at least 10-12.000 GDC/24 hours...

Thanks for answer!
Indeed i noticed you shouldn't rely on profit calculators... that's the ideal value... but hard to achieve it Wink

Thanks!

I can confirm it's working better now! Nice!

The current price at Cryptsy is about 0.00000565 BTC. Buy them while they're still cheap Wink. In my opinion we will hit the 800 again in 1 or 2 days.

That's likely because now everything seems to be working fine.

Yes, I have successfully fixed the issue with grandcoin.  We are now operating at better than expected efficiency!!!!  Everyone mine those coins!!

GDC.DEDICATEDPOOL.COM

I've stopped the share values from 250% average to 90% Smiley Smiley. That means we're finding blocks almost 2.5x quicker now.  Thanks everyone for continued support and comments.  We'll make this the best pool for grandcoin.. keep mining Smiley

Seems like many people are dumping their Grandcoins on Cryptsy. Why? Because they had it paused for a day? Quite stupid to dump your coins right now in my opinion, but be my guest. I will buy many of those current undervalued coins Smiley

BTC is also diving, so probably those things combined. Now is good time hoard undervalued coins! GDC will rise again.

I'm mining on http://gdc.nordicminers.eu/ but it seems I'm getting a quarter of what I should get with 4.6MH/s

With a difficulty that varies from ~3.5k to 6.5k, I should get in 24H something like 10k to 20k GDC, but I'm only getting ~5000

Their pool page is totally misleading, showing that I should get ~20k GDC with a ~5k difficulty, when in a few hours of relative stable difficulty (4.5k to 5.5k), I got ~200GDC per hour, instead of 600 to 800.

This is not the only pool which is completely of (and it's not specific to GrandCoin), showing great profitability when in fact it's much worse than mining standard LTC.

Grandcoin is just fucked in general.  No pools are able to get the proper amounts.

http://gdc.dedicatedpool.com/index.php?page=statistics&action=blocks

We have 80% of the total network hash and we're still only getting 30-50% of the blocks.  No ideas dudes.. I've got stratum and mpos guys involved and they are at a loss too.  Got the latest stratum build from 4 hours ago too.

This is the issue:  https://github.com/moopless/stratum-mining-litecoin/issues/48

I have personally spent hours trying to fix stratum to deal with this issue, but have not been successful yet.

The problem occurs when stratum tries to submit a solved block to the Grandcoin client which, when it fails, results in a 500 error from the client. The block does not get submitted and so does not get credited to the pool.

The problem is intermittent, but happens more often than not with GDC, and is quite hard to recreate to test solutions on.

I turned the GDC pool off on https://www.miningpool.co for this very reason - as people don't understand the issue and simply decide the pool is scamming them.

So a temporary solution would be to avoid stratum based pool in favor of p2pools ?
Where do those coins go after a 500 error then ? who "win"/keep" them ?

Also, the fact that all the pools show in the CONTRIBUTOR HASHRATES a totally misleading and false profit (in BTC/day and/or in USD/day) is borderline a blatant lie, even if it's not the pool's owner fault.
Adding a sentence like "real profit are likely 25% to 35% of your simulated profit" would be more honest.

This happens with other POS coins also, but for some reason in my experience GDC seems to get affected worse than other coins by this issue.
