Help to export keys from Multibit Classic vs 0518 to Electrum vs 302

Hi you all,

I have installed Electrum wallet vs 3.0.2 today.
Yes i am a bit late  

Now i want from my old Multibit Classic wallet vs 0518 export the private keys in to the new Electrum wallet 302.

Unfurthunalty there is no information or tutorial on youtube, at least not about importing the keys in Electrum 302.

Please who now's more or can help and give instruction >

There are already instructions on how to do this on Electrum's documentation page - http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/faq.html#can-i-import-private-keys-from-other-bitcoin-clients

The procedure is rather simple:

1) On Multibit you need to follow the steps here to export your private key(s) https://multibit.org/help/v0.5/help_exportingPrivateKeys.html
2) Then on electrum I suggest you to sweep the private keys rather than export. What 'Sweep' means is that Electrum will ask you to paste all your private keys, but instead of importing them directly it'll attempt to transfer the funds from those private keys onto an address on your current electrum wallet. This is much more useful because you can now create an electrum standard wallet (with 'Standard' selected) with a seed and you can safely write this down and uninstall electrum from your PC once the sweep is done. If you just import the private keys instead, then your wallet will not have a seed.

In order to sweep create a standard wallet and go to Wallet menu -> Private Keys -> Sweep, paste all your private keys. This will basically create a transaction on the blockchain and you'll have to pay the transaction fee, but the benefit is that you can easily backup and remember only the seed.

pls advice.

I exported the private key (1) out of the Multibit wallet.

After that I followed al the steps below and sweep the private key into the Electrum wallet.

Here something get's wrong;

I had one private key with a totall amount BTC in the Multibit wallet.

After sweeping the private key into Electrum wallet something went wrong.

The Electrum wallet accepted/imported just one small amount of BTC with a very high tx fee.

After trying to do all the steps again, to export out Multibit and import into Electrum there was a fault code.

I have restart the blockchain and transactions in the Multibit wallet and the BTC amount is still the Multibit minus the small part that was sweeped in to Electrum.

Do you have advice for me what to do know ?

How many addresses do you have in MultiBit? It seems like you only exported 1 key. If Electrum did not find all your BTC on that one key, then you must have multiple keys (and multiple addresses) in MultiBit!

Also, sweeping will be costly at the moment due to the Super high transaction fees!

You can import the keys in v3.0.2... just follow the instructions in the YouTube video, but when creating the wallet in Electrum, you need to use:

File -> new\Restore -> import Bitcoin addresses or private keys

Note that importing will create a new wallet, which is effectively a "clone" of your MultiBit wallet. Sweeping is generally the recommend method as it allows you to move your coins into a more secure wallet with the seed based backup (12 words etc)... However, due to the simply outrageous fees at the moment, sweeping will be prohibitively expensive... So, I'd recommend importing for now... You can move them manually later when the fees are lower.
