-EDIT-
It looks like everyone will get paid fully according to their CMO
https://www.justcryptonews.com/311/nicehash-will-pay-back-everyone-affected-60mln-hack
So i am guessing everyone will be back there regardless of poll results, angry tweets, etc etc... Smiley

According to https://www.justcryptonews.com/294/nicehash-coming-back-online and tweets from people supporting the service (miners for the most part), it looks like Nicehash will be making a come back.
Are you going back or not?  Huh

I would hazard a guess, that older - frequent users of btalk are of the more advanced kind of miners.
740,000 registered users on the service (at least according to their claims) seems a ludicrous amount of people tbh.

the question without known variables is impossible to answer.

security fixes, planned opsec, payment options, reimbursement, fees, how profitable vs direct mining, will buyers show up in droves again?  all those will determine if it remains an option to point rigs at.

if they just start again with no words and our balances are all zero, hell no.

if they've put effort into new security protocols, pay people back(somehow), and offer a different payment structure where it's not just a massive growing target until friday morning every week. and buyers haven't been turned away then i'd check it out again.  some people have careers, wives, kids, houses.  where their rig farm was already a huge project to fit into limited time as it is. in times where profitability differences ARE negligible nicehash provides a service worth saving some more hours of very limited time.

edit: i also don't think the answers of the 1 or 2 gpu miners using their gaming rigs matter. nicehash is worth it even more in that case because the earnings are so small any additional time sink is silly. answers for people with fairly serious operations are much more meaningful.  have to see how it all plays out.

If they are able to refund me, sure I'll have a look again. If the profitability is there I'll give it a shot, as managing my rigs to find the best altcoin to mine does take up loads of time.

Although, mining altcoins right now is very profitable compared to what NH was. So the hack might have been a good thing.

Actually, it's much easier to mine now than when I started. Back in 2014 they're weren't many YouTube videos, tutorials on mining or dedicated mining OS's. Pools used to go down more frequently too. NiceHash is just for those that want plug-n-play mining and don't want to take the time to learn.

Agreed,
the rate at which the amount of information is multiplying (at least since 2016 when I started) about mining is massive.

I still don’t understand why people are still going to go back to Nicehash even after the hack. It’s not incredibly difficult to mine and tune miners in the first place and you’re paying a whole lot in fees for a little convenience. Also disappointing that there are people out there mining that hardly know what coins they are mining, much less how to even use a miner like Claymore.

There is no need for nicehash in the miners community, newbies can use console miners with no problems now there is alot of how to videos and mining channels , also if miners returned back to nicehash everyday we will find pools fake hacks and the next day we are sorry and coming back to work, nicehash should be punished.

I've only used the service temporarily to get paid in BTC when it was increasing a lot a few weeks ago but it's always been better to mine using your own software/pool etc.

Personally I would not trust them again and will stick to mining Eth/Monero on Nanopool.

I was with nicehash for a very long time and so made a tragedy that happened to this pool as their own. I have not lost a lot of money, but I can say that I too was a victim of a hacker attack. I in any case will support nicehash and as soon as they restore my work I'll come back to them. I hope that this will be the last successful attack.

ETN seems looks like a good alternative to Monero (if one needs the cashflow as opposed to holding)

I am not out very much money as I had received payment about a week or so before the hack. I now have four small mining rigs running 24/7. I used Nicehash mainly because of how easy it was and I made a decent profit. I have kept all my investments in a wallet and had no plans of cashing anything out in the next year.  Also I like getting paid in bitcoin and man has that worked out well this year! I have used ccminer with some success before and since the Nicehash service went down. On Nicehash I always mined with the equihash algo since that was the most profitable for my cards. Currently I am mining electroneum and bitcoin gold now. Some of the issues I have experienced since losing access to Nicehash:  I believe I have lost some electroneum because the wallet is such a total pain. I ended up having to create a second wallet and I honestly still do not know where the file is stored. Deciding which pools to use is challenging and time consuming. Electroneum pools that I have tried are not the most stable and I don't like the idea of having to babysit something that I never gave a thought to before. I have now signed up for multiple exchanges so I can sell my new coins and buy bitcoin with the proceeds.

With all those considerations I think I will use a hybrid approach going forward. If I can find a nice stable and profitable pool I will keep some of my rigs running ccminer and the rest running Nicehash again.

well, I started with Nicehash and start learning about cryptomining with Nicehash software a lot. For newbies is defenitly good choice to start with no regarding what happened.
But they will defenetly be better after this.

I don’t think I will use nicehash again. I only used it when I first started for a few days as I read more and tried different pools and software to see what I liked the best.  I then moved off nicehash only mining enough to receive the layout I had left. Luckily I did that the week before the hack.  I do miss how easy it was to benchmark but there are other ways. I don’t think I would go back to Nicehash if they do come back.

It looks like they are indeed coming back after all, just saw the tweet about it.
I am curious to see if anyone is going back after all, and why would anyone leave profitable pool mining to go back to a service
that hasn't said a word about any plan of action or anything, all of this time with regards to the supposedly insured user funds.

OK I admit, I was a nicehash user. I start to build a rig then throw it on nicehash and tada.....

then it was " hacked" and force me to use other pool.....

I used nanopool, flypool and now I'm on ahashpool with nemos miner....I was making around 15$ a day with my low budget 5X1070 rigs on nicehash....

Now I'm making 25-30$ a day and getting payment directly to my wallet....

So honestly why I should get back to a site like that ?

I mean, it's fine for debutant or lazy person....but after you've taste a better pie....

It was nice to see them gone, they are a blight on crypto. They drive down the profits of loyal miners. They pump BTC and put negative pressure on alts since they are always doing alts to btc transactions. I hope they stay gone.

It was a nice day to be a miner when they went down,we were enjoying x2-3 profits on some coins but i guess now thats gone.Nh was and will continue to be used mostly buy people that dont know how to dl miner, edit batch file and join a pool so it was a great and easy way for newbies or for those who just dont have the time to chase the most profitable coin every few hours

According to the news release, new investors are taking care of the payback.  They admit the stolen funds are unlikely to be recovered.

Looking on WTM, Nicehash X11Gost, Equihash, Lyra2Rev2 and NeoScrypt are already climbing the charts, currently holding positions 10, 13, 16 and 17 respectively.  It would appear that previous users are already flocking back in droves.

That would be the best thing to do since there's no guarantee at all that they will refund the loss of their investors and people cannot guarantee also that they will be safe for their next investment at them. And it will be a dumb idea for sick people to trust this site since we never know if the are been hack really or another part of inside job which is executed by many scam site already.

Its only good for you since you've multiple rigs for mining. (you said Rigs, so I assume you have many)
Maybe your share is a lot higher than usual at that time and the pool just got lucky.
Now some Miners are back, I guess it's back to normal.

There's nothing good happened after that hack incident.

https://www.justcryptonews.com/311/nicehash-will-pay-back-everyone-affected-60mln-hack

Huh

If they will return all pending payouts in reasonable period it could considered to be back to Nicehash mining. But at the moment I would wait...

Has anyone jumped back on mining on NH? I'm thinking of doing it whilst I'm on holiday as it's way more stable.

I jumped right away and profits were really high, now they normalized but are still good. Let's see if they pay though Smiley

I also jumped to check what's going on. Profits seem high, but all over the place. Still find it more profitable now mining alts and selling directly. They need to change their fees if they want to see me back.

It was nice to see them gone, they are a blight on crypto. They drive down the profits of loyal miners. They pump BTC and put negative pressure on alts since they are always doing alts to btc transactions. I hope they stay gone.

Loyal miners?  LOL.  Honestly how many miners care about what they mine beyond profits?  I know I don't.  I mine whatever is the most profitable.  I don't read whitepapers or support the coin's community in any way.  Sometimes I hodl, sometimes I sell right away, but if I am being honest, I do this for the money.  And I think I am in the majority.  Nicehash is also not always doing alt to btc transactions;  Nicehash is simply a marketplace to buy and sell hashpower with btc.  You are thinking of multi-algo pools like zpool that will convert everything you mine into bitcoin.  Using nicehash is really no different than trading instead of mining.  It is pure speculation.  I have made profit many times by buying hashpower on nicehash.

We've been saying it all along.. But some people dont want to listen. Glad you saw the light.

I just keep wondering...

They lost EUR +64,000,000 EUR or USD +70,000,000... And now they are going to pay it back. This means, before the hack they had EUR +128,000,000 or USD +140,000,000.

Does this sound plausible to anyone? For me it doesnt. So where did they find +64,000,000 EUR or USD +70,000,000 within a couple of weeks to pay back everyone? I'm pretty sure no insurance company would help them.

Sorry for repeating those numbers, it's meant to be "eye opening". Wink

I was mining CRC on my rig and went on holiday. Had Nicehash setup on autostart if the system resets. Happened whilst I was away, but NH profits are actually pretty decent. Good for a backup plan should your rig crash.
