At what difficulty does a 7850 become not worth mining assuming free electricity?

When you consider with each passing week the value of your 7850 on ebay decreases by what?  A dollar?

Right now a 7850 might fetch $120 on ebay.  In a year you might get $70.

Well, I currently get 285 Mhash/sec, so your 310 is pretty close to what I get.

I'm currently making 6 mBTC a day, and it's slowly dropping.  At 100$, that's 0.60$ a day.  So... Technically, assuming free electricity, even if you only get 0.0000001 coins, it's still profitable, because you are getting something out of "nothing".   However, I'm stopping soon,  (maybe 1 or 2 more difficulty increases) because I've just passed the beak even point.  It takes me $0.67 a day in power to run my rig, and I'm now less then that on the coins I'm making, so I'm going to stop.  Maybe once I drop below $0.40 a day, or even $0.50.

Presuming you bag roughly .006 btc per day with a 10% drop in earnings every 11 days  the "talking out of my ass" value says to sell it in 8 months

Right now there is a big glut of miners selling on ebay and this is driving price unusually low.  This will end and prices on some cards (mostly 5xxx series) may actually go up a little. 

If the price of BTC rises to $150+ or litecoin rises independently you will see used video cards rise in value.

I would think the 2nd hand profitability goes down in large drops each time a new series of card comes out rather than progressively, so keep your 7xxx cards till just before the 8xxx cards come out.

If you assume an ebay price drop of $50/year, that's $0.14/day in lost sales cost. At a BTC price of $100, you need to be making 1.4 mBTC per day to break even. Right now, 300 MH/s = 5.7 mBTC/day. So you're still better off mining now and selling later, given your assumption of free electricity.

I mined the s**t out of a 5870 I got used off eBay.  I got it for £80, mined it to death, sold it 5 months later for £80.  It wouldn't mine any more, but played games etc OK.

I have a 6970 that I got used for £120.  I mined the s**t out of it for nearly a year, and I'm now using it in my gaming rig.  I expect to get another 6 months out of it, and if I get £60 for it I'll be happy.

I got a pair of 7950 for £200 each, and they're still mining away like mad.   Some of the same used cards on eBay are selling at more than what I paid (Gigabyte Windforce X3).  I could technically turn a profit on them, if I sold today and I was lucky.

7950s are falling in value fairly quickly. I sold multiple 7950s on ebay a 4-6 weeks ago for between $250-$280, and now it looks like they are selling for around $200.

I can get Radeon 7950s new locally for under $250 at the moment. Because of increased competition from the big N I expect they'll hit $200 new soon.

What I dont understand, is that people get such low hash-rates woth their 7850's?
I get 400mh/s with 1165 core, and low as possible mem (1500 mem LTC mining, 6000 effective) + a UNDERVOLT...
Is it your coolers? I have a DCII, fans at 40% is 55 degrees = almost no noise...

I let em mine whenever I can, and I did not buy them for BTC mining but gaming, so making profit is not a must for me.
So, I pull ~800mh/s with 2 cards @ 300 Watts, that is about 1.43$ a day, or 43.42$ a month, I dont have to pay for power.
And I have a Block erupter mining 24/7 = 17.91$ a month...

Mining LTCs is almost twice as profitable.  I have had all my rigs mining LTCs for a while now.  If you don't want anything to do with LTCs you could always just trade them in for BTCs.  And you would get almost twice the amount of BTCs.

I have 13 7950s between three rigs right now.   I'm still way way way way profitable.

Mining LTCs is almost twice as profitable.  I have had all my rigs mining LTCs for a while now.  If you don't want anything to do with LTCs you could always just trade them in for BTCs.  And you would get almost twice the amount of BTCs.

I used to mine LTC back in the days I could fetch more than .x ltc per day, it was more like 10 LTC a day...
I'm minimg BTC with my Block Erupter, and LTC with my dual hd7850's....

Powercolor / TUL are making the cheapest Radeon cards, you have to search a bit to find a good price. Hint: try google shopping for example ;-)

well, I haven't looked at the eBay prices for the 'USB Eruptors', but at least several times a week you can find deals on GPUs where you could turn on a profit on eBay right when they hit your doorstep & after fees

since i don't know the resale value of the USB Eruptor, I wouldnt pay more than $10 for one from a ROI perspective

I can't find any 7790 card that sold that cheap the ones I see go for $100-150, when you can buy an USB stick for about $60.  I sold all of my USB sticks at a profit on eBay.  eBay buyers are not the smartest, heck I've sold a lot of ChromeCasts for retardedly high prices.
