Hard to make 7 Characters on address it takes several days.

I just use the -i option and begin to get results in a few minutes or less.   With a bit of luck you can get a nice looking 7 letter prefix in an hour or so that way.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

has there been a resolution to the

issue? i'm running into the error trying to generate a simple vanity address and when using -V verification mode its much slower and i get the same error.

running recent (but not latest) catalyst drivers on AMD 79xx series cards on debian OS, all cards report the same error instead of privkeys.

mines every algo fine otherwise.

Just to let you know, the error was on Ubuntu, not Windows

I don't have access to my laptop right now, i'll test asap

Also I made a mini script to compile when make doesn't find cl.h
I didn't make a pull request because it's rather dirty but it might be useful for some
It's useful for me because I can compile without modifying oclvanitygen.c: the script modifies oclvanitygen.c, runs make, then modifies oclvanitygen.c back

One hour is too long to wait for an address. I think I will stick with the old address...

you only need more RAM if your on winblows. their mapping SysRAM with GPURAM.

Yes I'm on Windows.
Is there any upper limit on the amount of RAM it will take?
Or will it eventually work it's way through 16 GB and crash again?
Thanks,
Dave

Im sure you'll use the 64bit version, so you wont hit a limit. Unless there are hidden winblows nasties, of course Wink

4 characters more add a lot more time. While 1Defcon takes me 23 minutes for 50% chance, 1Defconfour for example would take 500 years for the same chance.

Right, the point being that it's not at all linear.  Each new character is an exponential growth over the last one.  Does anyone actually know what that function is off the top of their head, btw?

any way to generate a litecoin vanity adress with this version of vanitygen ?
i know there's  possibility to do it with another forked version (from dasher): https://github.com/dasher/vanitygen , but i want to know if we can generate it with samr7  version.
Thanx in advance

If you go to http://cryptolife.net/upwg/ you can work out what number corresponds to a given coin, then use the

Code:
-X

flag for what ever coin you want to generate

eg SXC

Code:
oclvanitygen64 -X 62 -o answer.txt -D nnn Ryan

Ryan9u6ZqjaeEfdauSMKyM8Pv44Jn82jiF

eg LTC

Code:
oclvanitygen64 -X 48 -o answer.txt -D nnn Lake

LakewBLjhjYF6ufiqGDAj3K336t5A41oLN

(does that mean I have the first known Vanity Wallet Address for LiteCoin?)

Run off a batch of at least a thousand wallets via the bulk wallet feature on that site to ensure the vanity you are searching for will come up.  The program will tell you something is not possible, but better to check).

Does LiteCoin have a dedicated paper wallet site?  You can use it to cross verify.

This site https://walletgenerator.net/?currency= also has LiteCoin (select from the drop down after running your mouse around).

So if I got this right:
If person A wants me to search for a vanity address for him, but I would also like to search for vanity addresses for n other people simultaneously, the result that I find, with which person A can generate his desired vanity address, is only usable to person A if he has a certain piece of information from all these n other people?

The vanitygen client has command-line options -p for platform (if you have multiple versions of OpenCL installed), and -d for device to pick which physical CPU/GPU to run on. It also has a help option.
