Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Bitmain is probably retiring old miners, maybe a hall of S2's?  Huh

You all should be happy about this, this means a difficulty drop in the future  Grin

Well thanks for your info, but I guess you don't need to update the pool hashrate so frequently. Just my 2 cents.

Why?

The thread is called Antpool Hashrate Drop and I wanted to help illustrate how the pools hashrate is fluctuating. That way it might be easier to get a clear picture of what's going on. If that kind of thing burns your eyes I advice you to put me on ignore.

The hashrate has recovered... and then some. 56PHs and continuing to grow. It appears that Bitmain just changed out old, inefficient gear with new, efficient gear.
