Can someone tell me what the mechanical function of an Asic miner that causes the high pitch sound? Is there any way to make it quiet - perhaps some lube?
I can't tell if you are referring to the fan's noise because you said "
high pitch".
Usually, what's noisy with ASICs are the Fans especially S4 and above, but that isn't high pitched noise. (
Something like ZzZuuu~.....)
If it is really a high pitch sound, some transformers somehow emit that and most human ears can't hear it.
So basically, that sound should have came from the ASIC's Powersupply if it was really high pitched.
When you immerse the miner in oil do you remove the fan or just slow it down or do you just immerse the heatsink?
The fans should be removed.
It will remove the noise but that's a meticulous job. Also not recommended for hot places.
