This is a good development with a fair launch. There are so many java trained developers that a coin based on javascript might actually get some traction. Programmers who want to change careers or get into the booming cryptocurrency industry are in luck. Smaller projects might get some experienced rock-star developers easily or at a good price, which is good for the long-term development of the coin.

I do worry about security though. Java is full of security flaws and it would be terrible if someone managed to steal coins from the community or the dev team.
