I just signed the petition, “FBI: Bittrex Class Action Law Suit.” I think this is important and everybody should support this action.
Here’s the link:
https://www.change.org/p/fbi-bittrex-class-action-law-suit?utm_medium=email&utm_source=petition_signer_receipt&utm_campaign=triggered&share_context=signature_receipt&recruiter=843513408

I have to mention one important point:

It is about keeping the ecosystem healthy and sane. It is not just about the direct victims of Bittrex's now 2 months long so called 'blocking' of deposits (what blocking? There is no blocking in crypto tech, unless one that both parties, sender and receiver have agreed upon, it is a robbery, the 'blocked' coins are nowhere other than in Bittrex owner's wallet if s/he has not lost them yet in Bittrex's pump and dump policy in shitcoins).

Yes! It is about all of us who are in danger with scammers and opportunists fishing around in the young crypto market.

I understand, Bittrex scam is a sophisticated one, they hide behind multiple walls: silence, denial, making false excuses, claiming to be overloaded, bribing corrupted media for not to cover the news, partitioning users to isolate the victims. But the truth is simple and harsh: Tens of millions of users' funds is in Bittrex owner's pockets for months against their wills and intentions and by violating every single law related to fraud and other financial crimes in the cyber space.

So join and help to take down these bustards and put them behind the bars, in the name of the community. Smiley

Syrians, Iranians, Russians, Eastern EUropeans, ... most of the Bittrex's victims have been deliberately chosen in a way that the scammers suppose can hide behind excuses like KYC/AML  and get away with their fraud because the carefully selected victims have little if not zero access to jurisdiction resources. It is why I call it the most sophisticated fraud in crypto history.

But they are wrong! Not all the victims have the same situation and there are laws that protect people from such frauds. For instance, a fraudulent business like Bittrex is potentially dangerous and suspect by default. FBI and other authorities will run extensive surveillance and Interpol can easily put law suits and open extradition files and a huge potential is available to stop them. So. please join and ask for a change!

the victims must hire a lawyer and with that lawyer to travel to the US to be able to report this case to the US authorities. I wonder if this petition has any useful result, I saw when trump was elected and had a petition more or less equal to this petition that you are asking people to participate and what i saw was that trump is still president and the petition It was useless. the best solution is hire a lawyer.

I don't know how legal stuffs work...

That's why lawyers are hired to defend us.

I'm strongly against your arguments. From my point of view, nobody in no country can commit such a crime and get away with it even in a jungle like what USA is turning to become under Trump's administration.

It is more than obvious that cyber criminals are acting in the global sphere and even with a 'My country first' agenda, every government has responsibilities  to take, specially when it is about a country that is the most biggest stakeholder in the global market with more than 30% share!

Protecting US citizens from cone artists and scammers is the inherent duty of FBI and US department of justice, fulfilling this duty is not possible by promoting global cyber crimes or letting such criminals free.

This FBI class action request is something I think. But your proposal, (poor victims from poor countries to hire lawyers and travel to the US ) is nothing at all.

Hey depending on which country you are from, you can approach an attorney in your city and have that attorney contact an attorney in the US. All attorneys worldwide generally speaking have connections with attorneys in the US. You can have them talk to each other and retain the US attorney who will then file a suit on your behalf. But you will need to talk to a US attorney either through a lawyer in your country or have a friend or family member approach one and have the US law firm on your behalf through your relative or friend. That way I assume the costs will be lower for you.

Look bruh US is a country governed by laws and one effective way of getting your rights is through retaining the services of a good legal attorney. Get hold of one, and explain your case. Once an atty takes up your case, then the atty can send a demand letter to which they have to respond. Just deal with the process patiently and without getting frustrated.

And one more thing. You need to locate someone who is not expensive and who charges you for the case and not by the hour. You can find some good atty's from the outskirts. try not to approach the ones in the city but the ones who are in towns. As long as they are from the same state, they work just as good.

The FBI will not go after this company for locking people out of accounts. There has been -0- evidence that the funds have been removed from customer wallets, just that customers have not been allowed to access them in some cases. If you are not from the US, you are going to have a REALLY hard time getting those funds back without hiring an attorney from the US, getting them to sue for it, then sharing with that lawyer. Its the same thing that happens when a US citizen looses money on a non US exchange. They have no recourse either. If the FEDS also ordered Bittrex to stop doing business with certain countries, there is absolutely nothing you can do even with a lawyer.

Long story short, If you are from a country that the US has blocked business dealing with, you are out of luck till that policy changes.

Im not saying its right or good, but this is not going to get resolved by petition.

There is a lot of truth in spamsucks statements. however, accepting a deposit from a person and then not allowing that person access to or to take back his/her money amounts to day light robbery; immaterial of which country the person belongs to, whether a US friendly country or not. Question would be why in the first place was the deposit accepted and next if the funds are frozen what does the individual have to do with any foreign policy that may have kicked in? An atty will be able to address these and other related questions and I am quite sure you will find a legal solution to your problem. Give it a shot. What do you have to lose?

It is great news if 40 reports are enough and if you do not need a lawyer. That is going to save a lot of money for your guys.

Like I was saying the other thread, AFAIK, t..r...ts will not play with $20000 but may be in millions of dollars. IDK, just guessing. So whats the point in blocking accounts with a few tens of thousands of dollars just because a person is not from the US. Couldn't they inform the not so welcome account holders to transfer their money out and close down the account?

Just read on the other thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2267728.new#new) that they were having some serious staffing issues. Has anyone checked to find out if its true?
