hi,  ive been unable to update or install new wallets on my main hard drive due to lack of space. it's an ssd not very big so i want to install them on my 2nd 1gig drive which doesn't have windows on it. is this a difficult thing to do.

You can just change the data directory. It is not difficult at all. I assume you are using Windows (you should switch to Linux btw) from your post so you will probably need to learn how to add an argument to your Bitcoin Core shortcut, that you click on when you are starting Bitcoin. I can't really help you with this part, as I didn't use Windows for years, but I am sure that there are plenty of tutorials on the Internet. Just type the name of your Operating system with "add argument to shortcut" or something like that and you will probably be done in few minutes.
