Many altcoins hype their coins/token like that when they are advertising the ICO it is not an out of the blue strategy for most of the upcoming ICOs nowadays. Most of the ICOs right now are a scam if they do not have a proper market target and road map for the altcoin that they are advertising. For any ICO a good study must be conducted for its legality so you better read the whitepaper, check the devs, and campaign managers.

Bitcoin is still the current leading cryptocurrency and I think that it would remain on top for quite more time. However, anything can still happen though it might not happen soon that another altcoin will take over bitcoin.
