The newbies, especially the ones who wanted to increase their rank are struggling with the limitations that some are spending money to buy copper.
Patience and perseverance is the key to increase your level. Every achievement that comes from hard work is sweeter than those things you had easy. It is so fulfilling that you started from the bottom and you are slowly going up to the top. No person can become adult immediately  no matter how much they want it because there are certain things we learn while we grow up and priceless experiences. We must learn to take things slowly, limitations are made because it gives us lessons that everything does not come unlimited. Smiley

Merit is playing its own role in the ground although it needs to be improved, there were valid points coming from the members.

If you analyse past one months members activity then it is really clear that lots of improvements we are seeing. When you trust a group of people and allow them to make decision for you then you have to accept what they decide despite it's right or wrong. We human always get biased when it comes to make a decision.

This current system would be a better one if we could make better decision on giving sMerit to someone, although the current merit system needs some twist to improve in my opinion. Some members are really misusing the merits.

Be happy be at peace. Looking forward to BTC at $1M

Learn from experience it will upgrade your skill. We must learn step by step from basic it will better, because actually if you learn from beginning, your skill more powerful. I'm not recommend if we buy copper. It will not improve your skill and you not get nothing. Every things is not instantly will stay strong.

That's absolutely right, I'm a Jr. Member now. But still I feel like I'm a newbie. I believe I'm a regular member but I haven't got any merit yet. I'm not sure where I stand about this merit system. I hope things go well for me. Best wishes for myself.  Grin Roll Eyes

Newbies, newcomers should gradually and naturally rank up their positions over time. It's better for them. They should learn, experience first. No need to rank up too fastly in the forum.

I also give you link to my another post discussed about which components forms good topics that can get merits:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3032472.msg31232565#msg31232565
Please visit there for reading more ideas of other users on the topics (not only mine)

If you only want to read my ideas, there you go:
Topic titles should be written with good English, both vocabs and grammar, linking words, clear topic sentences.
Nevertheless, the fact is only topic title is not enough to get merits, because it is not enough to make quality, constructive, useful topic. The general quality of each topic depends on its internal contents by several following components:

1. Does the topic has relevant questions? (that means is the topic neccessary to start a new topic, is it not been answered wherever before)
2. Was the topic written in well-formated style? (don't use capitalizations, hightlights, underlined, oversized-images when not needed)
3. Was the topic written with proficient English (with little inapproriate vocabulary usages and grammar errors)?

Might be more important components, I am not sure; but in my view, those three are the most important ones which can help topics to get merits.
Topics are larger than threads/ posts, but they have common components to make good ones.

Yes you're right, mostly newcomers or newbie must learned first about the forum rules before they rank up in the next step.
They should know everything here in forum and explore different sections not only section that flood on shit poster like Bitcoin discussion, economics and trading discussion those are mostly post nonsense to the sewer. That's good enough time to explore while hunting smerit to have in order to be rank up and motivated to have a good quality post.

Nice to see a new member speaking in favor of merit system. Completely agree with you that one has to improve hi knowledge and writing skills to increase chances of getting merit. Moreover, there are various other ways as well. For instance, one can participate in giveaways offered by different senior members. Also, there are some members offering merits for unique posts like infographics. Memmbers with such skills can make good use of that opportunity.

Now, only the official path of publishing high-quality posts can be upgraded. This is also an improvement to themselves. Although the upgrade is difficult, the gains will not be small.

Struggling is good. It means noobs are exerting efforts and efforts may lead to quality.
Though it's a buthurt for them seeing early users not to suffer the merit system to reach their current ranks, they should think that high ranks could be banned anytime if misused. With freezed account ranks, mods are continuously cleaning the forum. If you, noobs, started clean then you don't have to worry about anything.

The world develops and sometimes when demands are high, expectation on quality is needed to cope up with the development.

That is the true purpose of merit. To show how much do we really know about bitcoin and crypto. If we are knowledgeable enough, we can participate better and soon somebody will notice us and will give us merit. It is better to stack up on knowledge and not just on rank.

I think without struggling for newbie it's gonna be stagnant the rank and cannot be increased to up rank as soon as possible  .....
Awesome, another one-line shitposter to add to my ignore list, and who will never receive a single merit point from me.

Newbies should be struggling.  It should not be easy to rank up here, because we've all seen what happens when it is easy.  Good posts get buried in a mountain of shitposts, and the really talented posters get fed up and leave--and what we end up with are a bunch of people who can't write in English trying to write enough characters in English in order to satisfy minimums in order to get paid/rank up/farm accounts/whatever.  It becomes a total catastrophe.  That's why this merit thing exists.

Noobs bitching about the merit system to me is like listening to Beethoven.  Their cries of unfairness lighten my mood and uplift my soul.  It's been so long in coming.
Not all newbies should struggle their way to rank up. I mean, for shitposters that don't really contribute to the forum and spamming a good thread resulting for an informative and helpful post to get buried, they should struggle. But for some newbies, who's not lazy to research first and knows what he/she is talking about before posting, they should not worry about ranking up because they will get appreciated eventually by forum members who will see his/her post quality.

You are absolutely right, but still, not only newbies are struggling to get their accounts up even Jr member rank and above should work hard to empower not only their accounts but their knowledge as well, and as you said no one started as a legendy, they've surely took things slowly and held a longer breath for a greater harvest, alongside the merit system recently brought more barriers to the rank up so it is now harder and even unfair, everyone needs to work more and strengthen the quality of their posts to increase their level.

Patience is a virtue, Don't give up, Let's accept the challenge, Every new members aims to rank up smoothly, but we need to undergo some twist and waves to gather merits to level up our position, this is good idea wherein we need to establish a productive and substantial thoughts in the forum. The new set of policy is a good initiative to mold us to become a better individual, Hopefully everyone will took the challenge fairly:)  Not only the Newbies are struggling but members, full members and senior members are struggling  too:)

Why struggle? Maybe because newbies are thinking of earning instead of learning first. Try to proceed first to the normal process of leveling up and try to forget the merit system. While you are in forum, reading and posting you will be at ease of this process in the long run and before you knew it, you already have merit. Bottom line here is learn first and try to contribute to the forum the best possible way can. One way is to stop complaining.

Every account now a little bit hard to level up, because new system (merit) is important things to us for level up. As we know merit system will make every people to post be better (good post). Not spam, negative comment etc. So we have new challenge to make our post to be better and usefully for everyone and get merit. I believe this things can reduce for some of people not seriously make post / comments. I hope when we learn to make a better post, it will help us to have a positive thinking and improve ourself.

Keep feeling like a newbie. At least it will keep you off the bounties and make you contribute something useful to the forum.

The newbies, especially the ones who wanted to increase their rank are struggling with the limitations that some are spending money to buy copper.

And the purpose of this topic is to?
I will use this good advice in my investment decisions. Thank you very much op. This is what i came to this forum for.
good post but I want to learn something before the rankings..

You should learn to read before posting.

Newbies, newcomers should gradually and naturally rank up their positions over time. It's better for them. They should learn, experience first. No need to rank up too fastly in the forum.

Not every discussion is non-sense. The merit distribution may not be high in those places but the discussion on many threads are legit. Some shitposters will always clog them and make them unreadable. Higher merits are seen in "Technical Discussion" though that is not for everyone IMO.

You guys need to stop thinking about merit so much. It does not even matter who notices your post or to make your post stand out. What is more important is the contribution to the forum and your involvement in helping others. Dont chase merits and stop refreshing your merit stats page every 2 minutes to check who merited you. It wont change at least for now.

I am also a junior member but have got some merits for my posts. I am very much satisfied with m performance here as I am not that much active on this forum. You can also earn merits provided you are active here. By active I mean not only posting here frequently, reading the posts of other members (especially those of members who are getting lot of merits). You will get a lot of information regarding the forum rules and bitcoins in general. You can use that knowledge while making future replies. This will increase your chances of getting merits here.

It is very easy for new members to at least become member after the merit system. It just requires 10 merit points. Compared to that higher ranks require 100 merit points or more to move to new rank. That is quite a lot with the current number of merits being spent. I have seen a lot of new members achieving the member level after the merit system was introduced. One thing I suggest here is that if you are not able to get a single merit after 30-40 posts, you really need to analyse the reasons before posting more content here.
