Similar situation - been following bitcoin for a while now but finally broke down and ordered a BFL little single mining rig last October... finally got it in September and it's been going non-stop ever since.  I should be able to make ROI within a few more weeks, so at least it's a fun experiment that paid for itself (and maybe a bit more if difficulty doesn't grow too quickly).  It would be nice to see bitcoin accepted in more places, hopefully with time it will catch on.  Sites like Bitmit are a good start.
