I just started mining with CPU only, yes i know a lot of people think it is a waste of time, but if you only want to learn the first steps its fine i think!

So everyone what do you think about altcoins?
My opinion is that that they will profit big in the future!

If you mine any alt-coin write down wich one you mine right now! And i'd like to know your opinion too Wink

I mine a couple different ALTs. It is all about what kind of setup you have and what time/power you are willing to put into it. For me it didn't cost anything since I had most of the hardware laying around and power isn't an issue. My personal opinion on the ALTs is that until they have some kind of weight behind it like BTC does, other than speculation, meme-fame, or uniqueness for the sake of a name change they will just be coins for trade only. I still mine them, and it is fun but as I have said before. I like to gamble. Currently I mine DOGE, GRAIN, 42 and just about anything new that comes along for at least a couple days to build up a wallet with some in it. I play the long game tho and hold, I don't just dump them and run. Doge has shown some interesting prospect for gains but only for the reason of good marketing however marketing is everything. The price jump in BTC from October to December shows that. You don't necessarily need to have a better or unique product. It just has to be a product as good as the others. As long as it does the same functions and is well supported, the rest can be hype. It's Pepsi vs Coke vs RC Cola.

I think that the opposite will be true. You will lose out by holding most of these alts for too long as once they become unprofitable to mine, the miners and finally users will abandoned them. You're better off mining and trading for BTC or something else.

I think most of the alts, like 80-90% will slowly fade away and get abandoned.
But the good alts, like worldcoin, digitalcoin, anoncoin, colossuscoin, etc, will indeed continue to grow
because they have very good devs and a strong community and good projects in the pipeline.

Most of altcoins could die and I wouldn't mind bad at all. It's good to have different algos to make it harder to develop asics but one good coin per algo is enough. At the moment I see future only for bitcoin and litecoin but there probably could be markets for example to memorycoin, (fair?)quark and such too. But preferably only one per algo.

Im sceptical about holding altcoins, in future, there can be only much more altcoins, not hundreds like now but many thousands. If you dont select the right one, your gonna holding worthless coins for sure

I think most of the alts will fade away with the strongest ones finding a way to merge if its even possible.
FastQuarks sounds good (fastcoin/quark combo sounds good..Smiley.
WorldPeercoin could be good.
