What about the guys that are responsible for this spike?

Is this hash rate spike:
http://blockchain.info/charts/hash-rate related to the latest developments at HashFast?
Or it's all because of another company shipping/testing their hardware?

KnC November Batch. If HF would test stuff they would post proof.

Obviously the question is to mister Iceshill , I won't quote somebody who is in the ignore list of 90% people interested in this thread.

Avenger is just a child compared to the IceTard.

I really don't get it!
Because some asic manufacturers screw things up, we should be happy we are not  <insert bad word> entirely?
If 20 peoples gOt killed on the streets yesterday  am I supposed to be happy that I only got mugged?

Hey , look , that guy lost 10k$ , you should be happy you lost 1k$?!?!?
Let's throw a party ,we have no reason at all to celebrate but some people are worse than us so we should feel great! PARTYYYYYY!

Where is the happiness in your quote(s)?

Of course in my quotes there can't be any happiness. But as I stated previously , it seems that some iceshill thinks we should be happy because others are having problems with their delivery date also.
Since I won't quote this guy , and I was both tired and sick of everything yesterday I didn't pay too much attention and didn't make a separate post.

so looks like they made there 400ghash mark. You sure its only 4 dies?

lets see if the keep the 500ghs overclockable. Would be nice to have a surprise and get 500ghs out of the box and 600 overclockable

0.74 V is below 28 nm high performance specs for TSMC, which have typical voltages of 0.85 V.  So if they are hitting 400 GH/s there, we should still have a lot of headroom.

never seen a 5 days shipping from usa to france , man ...

If you ship a package with DHL or UPS from the USA on Friday it's guaranteed to arrive on Monday in Brussels. France should not be any different. That is 4 days max (Friday evening pickup, Monday noon delivery)

The closer it gets to Christmas the more you can throw any express delivery dates out the window unfortunately.

Sadly true but after Christmas is a different story and that still gives them a couple days.  None of this excuses HashFast blatant lying on shipping timelines.  I am now convinced they knew from day 1 they had no chance of shipping before late late late December and simply lied to secure sales at a higher price point.  Hashfast would still have gotten sales but not at >$10 per GH/s if they were honest and gave a realistic shipping timeframe of mid to late Dec for Batch 1.   They lied in order to profit from their customers victims.  Pure and simple.

Yes it is 4 dies per "chip".  96 double nonce cores per die or 768 hashes per clock.

This is also clearly visible on the PCB photo.

The big brown square in the middle is the substrate which forms the base of the entire chip package.  The 4 squares on the substrate are the 4 dies.  Just about everything else on the green PCB is what is required to funnel that much power into that small chip.  I have to give them credit it is a pretty clean design.  There is a 6 pin PCIe power connector at each end of the board currently not populated in this photo.  Each half of the board essentially supplies power for two of the cores.  The heat sink mounting holes are standard (looks like Intel hole spacing) so any off the shelf cooling component could be used without any custom work needed.

As pointed out IF it is ~400 GH/s at 0.74V well that is incredibly low voltage.  0.85V would be 15% higher voltage, pushing it to 0.90V would be 22% higher.  Clock rate should scale at least linearly with voltage increase (probably super linearly) albeit at lower efficiency (J/GH).  I am not making a prediction on how much they can push it.  Remember power usage in semiconductors increases by the square of the voltage increase and the chip already uses a lot of power in a small package.  At some point you run into limits on how much power the PCB can deliver and how much power (heat) the cooling system can remove.

Still as tacotime pointed out the chip at 0.74V is a good sign.  If they were struggling to get 400 GH/s at 0.90V that would be a bad sign as they would already be pushing the limits of what the chip can handle.

So, you are gonna power it up, right?

When it will be hashing, i will ask why it's not in the hands of DHL/whatever. We are losing what, 333$ per unit every day?

Wouldn't there be a laptop there, to show that the thing is hashing and not just bubbling water/spinning fans?

Hurry up, someone calculates the size and number of meters of copper needed to move 400W from under the table to the miner! The RPi has wifi so that aspect is covered!
