Even it had been delivered on time, it would have been a bit underwhelming.
My KNC Jupiter cost $1362 more but it arrived in early october (2-3 weeks before HF expected shipping date) and runs at 550 GH/s at 575w (roughly the same power efficiency but much faster).

So hashfast would have been competitive if shipped on time, but still not that much better than the rest.

If looking at a single BJ1 it looks pretty bad obviously.  With MPP it looks less bad... but that is still a bit of mystery as when we are to get them.

MPP will ship when Difficulty is 400% higher. Wink

It's good that batch 1 has been shipped and seems to be almost all shipped?

There are some HUGE important questions remaining though which HashFast hasn't gone anywhere near:

1) When will the upgrades for batch 1 ship? When will the November batch (batch 2) ship? How about the November upgrades?? There should be a reasonable estimate for these dates by now.

2) When will the MPP ship??? When will empty BJ cases be available for sale for the MPP boards?

I hope the MPP ships first. The first batch customers ordered the earliest, took the biggest risk, were charged the highest prices, and suffered the most from the rise in BTC relative to anyone else and they appear to be being screwed over more than the rest (i.e. why are Sierras shipping!!?? Those boards are first batch MPP boards!)
HashFast uses the Corsair case that you can buy at TigerDirect

Overclocking is the ONLY way you can even hit their promised performance!

If you clock to 610, cgminer will show it runnign at about 450 GH/s. But we know now this is not the REAL hashrate. Eligius will show it running at 425 GH/s. Why? Because cgminer is currently incorrectly counting bad shares (unless you upgrade to 3.11).

Upgrade cgminer to 3.11 and you'll see the hashrate drop to 425, the REAL HASHRATE.

Now, put the settings back to stock (clock 550), cgminer will show 420 GH/s but the real hashrate will be <395 GH/s. Not even the 400 GH/s we were promised.

Once again HashFast has over-promised and under-delivered.

btw, the BJs are not very overclockable. You probably won't be able to go higher than 615 clock without crashes every 30 seconds. I was hoping the BJs would be overclockable to at least 500 GH/s but now it looks like not even 450 GH/s is possible and overclocking is necessary just to hit 400 GH/s.

It is not really overclocking. HF themselves announced it will do 500 GH/s while still running underclocked:

Quote
HALF A TERAHASH/s (500 GH/s) on a single chip, while still running underclocked.

In any case, 395.80 Gh/s is the average hashrate I'm seeing at the pool with default settings.

Just got back from setting up my 12 Baby Jets. I have Scrypt rigs running in the back. 95Mh/s. I got tired of waiting for HashFast.

HashFash really needs some more Quality Control..

I'm not talking about Major problems. Of the 12, I only have 1 having problems.

But a lot of minor stuff:

Random screws loose and rattling in the case
Random Case parts (i think HDD bays) loose and rattling in the case
1/4th of the BJ's had the fans from the Radiator set the wrong way. Or 3/4th, depends how you look at it. 1/4th were pulling air down into the case. Only 1 fan in the back of the case was exhaust.
Random SD cards! I swear, there were like 3 different brands. I'm not sure, think all were 8GB.

That's about it. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to get these right. A loose screw in the case could short the board or fall into the radiator.

I don't think that's a 900D; more like a 700d or  800d...

I never talked about Lawyering up. Why did you quote me?

All the People who paid in BTC and saw an opportunity in an indirect investment Lawyered up.

Certainly all the people who lawyered up may have pushed HF to ship sooner.

Wait, did they refund you in btc already, or are you just joking about 0.03 cause I think people wouldn't have made such a big fuss over 0.03 btc.

No, i've received nothing from HF. The 0.0347 thing is a question of principles, he promised me to give that amount back in a few minutes and he has yet to.

I wonder if HF sales reps tried to entice you with immediate shipment if you cancel your refund request.

Ok, let's elaborate it.

When i say that i've not received anything from HF, i mean that i've not received an email (to answer to my lawyer), a call (to propose me a shipment), a USD refund check in the mail or any other kind of communications and that john blocked me on Skype.

I feel like special! Smiley

(and i'm really happy to see people accepting shipments from HF!)

Shit, that sounds pretty bad. I don't know about you but I would be open to some sort of reasonable compromise. Even if it takes longer to get back my original investment it is far better than losing 100% or 50 or 60% with accepting delivery. Can they not host some Sierra units for customers who are owed refunds in btc? I don't even want to own the miner after I've been paid back I just want to eventually see my original investment back and end this nightmare.

Maybe it sounds pretty bad, but it actually isn't Wink
Accepting delivery with an undefined MPP deadline means losing 90%, maybe 80% if they ship it "promptly" (as someone suggested, when the difficulty has increased 400%).

It's not a nightmare, it's actually an interesting situation...  Shocked

So did all of you talk big about lawyering up and then roll over as soon as something shipped?  That's about what I expected.

Nope, on our side, everything is going according to plan.

Edit: In the above sentence, the "plan" means the desparate last-ditch emergency plan we came up after we had (apparently) been scammed.

It will be interesting to see if the MPP arrived before, during, or after B2.

I think when asked earlier about B2 and MPP a ways back, they basically said that they were separate lines and wouldn't conflict.  Obviously the core, long pole component is shared between all their devices (the hashing module), so I don't think anyone took that seriously.  I think the only chance us B1-ers get our MPP in a timely fashion is if they run out of factory time at Ciarra, in which case, they may just ship the boards out from Cali.  Right now I am feeling a bit like a pessimist and thinking they will ship after B2... but who knows.

Maybe they are feeling magnanimous, now that they have actually completed (for the most part) initial B1, and will just press out the PCBs and get the MPP out too and then they can put B1 in their rear-view mirror.
