I'm not doing the tweets.  According to Amy, Simon is posting them.  I've let them know they are a very popular improvement over forum updates and blog posts.

Wait a second - they are a popular improvement over forum updates and blog posts because you are not doing any forum updates or blog posts. The way you communicate this information is not as important as the fact that you are actually giving us information or engaging us in a discussion.

More good news:

"Bitcoin enables ordinary people to fight back, to avoid and evade snooping governments, which enact, use and abuse laws that allow them, without due process, to investigate, tax, control and seize privately owned assets."  -   Leon Louw

“We can say without equivocation that firms like MasterCard, Visa and the TBTF banks like JPMorgan and Goldman hate the idea of ever having to compete for business again. They have grown comfortable in their corrupt world of writing laws for themselves without any regulatory oversight. They enjoy the exorbitant privilege of bilking the American economy with extortionary transaction rates. They are scared of Bitcoin. And they should be. It offers transparency, cost efficiency and anonymity.” - Max Kaiser

What are you doing the tests with if the PCBs are still unpopulated?
Also, to quote a rightful flame:

More good news!

Impressive. Particularly the fact you still dont seem to have a populated PCB to put the chip on, 6 weeks after promised shipment. Not that populating the board is going to be a problem, but even BFL has had that for months now and not having it means you cant have tested the board either. If the only problem was the chip's substrate, why did you not move ahead on all the other fronts?

They have just answered to me, also to the inquiry that I sent 2 weeks back

The prices are nothing impressive comparing to the "upgrade chip". Up to 50 units the price is almost the same and the worst part is when they are shipping.

Final shipdate will be March 31, 2014 at which time customer may request a refund in the USD amount of their purchase

You might want to hold onto that email.

Though you can bet they are going to move heaven and earth to get shipping labels in the system for every batch 1 order by midnight honolulu time.

I believe the TOS says DELIVERED by Dec 31.

That when they are talking about USD refunds in their website sales page, they are not talking about batch 1.

Awaiting for the update with max speeds. (that should come today as they said).

They told me that they will try to post on twitter a photo of the actual chip testing to proof that they are really doing so.

Then about the hosting, they have nothing. So if you were waiting for a hosting solution from HF you better find another one Sad

From experience with KNC, where I had a hosted device, hosting may not necessarily mean faster hashing. KNC delivered orders (much) later in the queue before they got hosting up and running. I'm guessing they didn't put/have much resources available in setting hosting up. Most of the resources were going to get the chip working, and hosting was put on the back burner. On the bright side, they did do a good job re-reimbursing the hosting customers, but it still ended up being somewhat a loss.

https://hashfast.com/hello-world/

Quote
Things are moving quickly! We finally have the first Golden Nonce chip, we began testing it —sending the first current through the 28nm chip to see how it performs. So far, things are looking very good. HashFast co-founder and CTO Simon Barber to give us the play-by-play of the first tests.

We brought up IOVdd first. Up to 1.8V — draws less than the minimum 10mA the bench supply reads.
Next core. Something odd was observed here. Initially, we saw high current draw as we brought the voltage up, reaching 0.7V where it was drawing 2.5A. As the voltage increased a little over 0.7v the current suddenly dropped to 82mA. It stayed there up to Vddcore=0.8v. This odd pattern of high current at low core voltage was repeatable. RST held low. MODE and BYPASS were held high. PLLVdd pulled to Vdd. All other inputs seemed to float low, with a 1Mohm impedance probe.
Next CLK was applied — first 37Hz. 4mA increase in Vdd core current. Took chip out of reset. No change. Next increase clock speed, this increases current. In a couple of steps, we got it to 6Mhz, where the core Vdd was drawing 548mA.
After a few minutes, we turned things off. On retrying, we didn’t find the same odd, high current during ramp of core Vdd. Perhaps this was due to CLK floating then, and not since?

Calling it a night, having trouble getting the serial port levels shifted correctly. Will continue in the morning.

— Simon

Over the next few days, the HashFast engineering team will be working intensely as they subject the GN to more tests. As we’re able to get them to break and give us an update, we’ll let you know how it’s going.

Simon will also be tweeting on the HashFast account — if you’re interested in seeing the results as the they come, follow us @HashFast on Twitter.

it sound's scary to me. they have how many weeks left until the end of the year?
