Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Your amount of refund will be the same as the USD amount shown below and in your order confirmation.  Our products were purchased based on the purchase price stated in USD.  We accepted payment in Bitcoin and other currencies as a convenience to our customers.  For the great majority of our Batch 1 customers, we never received Bitcoin, but instead received USD from our payment processor, BitPay, and used the money to pay our suppliers and costs.   Most early customers received a preferable exchange rate that reduced our revenue by 8%-10%.  We also have customers that have paid in Bitcoin when the exchange rate was far higher than it is today, so our approach to providing refunds in USD is not a policy designed only to benefit us.

Didn't they provide a bitcoin address for some customers to send direct bitcoin payments not using BitPay? cedivad (or others who will sue their asses) don't forget to tell that to a judge. I don't know how many paid using BitPay, but i'm sure that not all batch 1 customers did it.

I sent my entire payment to: 1B3FHM4Ax5BFuRidKBcfURfMaPBEDMDvQ8
Is there a way to know whether these BTC were eventually cashed out through bitpay?

* In Phinnaeus' case we'll have to tone down the homophobic bit and make sure it's just stuff we *know* and don't merely suspect, but there's some good material there.  From what I can tell, Long Dong does indeed appear to have been involved in prostitution, and Scrotum's involvement in selling pretty abusive and distateful pron is absolutely irrefutable.

To be clear, I'm not homophobic, but will tone down nonetheless. I may make fun of a myriad of demographics, but it's only for humor purposes and truly mean no harm.

@Phinnaeus Gage Nah, don't tone it down at all, I think it is perfectly fine the way it is now.  The laughs you bring to this thread is a great consolation, reading through all the bad news.

I didn't mean to suggest you were a homophobe, Phinnaeus, your jokes are fine with me.  I do think that some people might not appreciate them as much, especially if on a website rather than a forum.

I've got a couple of domain ideas but don't want to post them here.   If anybody's wants to make a suggestion before I pull the trigger, please send a PM.  Still looking for somebody willing to set up and keep an eye on the back end of the wiki.

I paid with a direct BTC address, not bitpay.

That shouldn't even matter. They provided me a bitcoin address, and I paid with bitcoin. I don't care if their payment processor converted it to dollars or not; not my concern. Once the bitcoin leaves my wallet and hits the address that their website or rep provided, that's that. Everything else is an irrelevant internal detail.

If you paid in dollars and they claimed that they don't owe you a dollar refund because they quickly bought a few bushels of coffee beans with your payment, and you're therefore only entitled to refund in coffee beans, would that make sense?

I don't see what grounds they'd have to claim that BitPay processing or no-BitPay is relevant.

Bitcoin is the first monetary system to credibly offer perfect information to all economic participants.

What I found interesting in this case is the heavy references to the term "In stock" on the website. I guess terminology matters.

Those are screenshots of their sites on the day they opened the orders.
Nowhere on the site nor in the ToS was it mentionned that you were actually selling "preorders", and as I said later in the same thread, it was very deceiving for any people randomly coming to their site without reading about them here first.

John talking about "orders" on the same day (and not "preorders")

Had never watched that video.  Okay, so Eduardo is not a native English speaker and thus presumably is an immigrant to the US.  Judging by accent and surname, he's from Latin America.  Has anyone ever heard any discussion of where he is from?  This would be helpful pulling together more complete bios of Hashfast principals.

Spain. And at the cost of being repetitive - his name is Edward L. Rodriguez de Castro.

I've paid with a wire transfer instead of BTC. As such I have no hope of getting back BTC.

Is there any reason for me NOT to request a refund at this point?

If they ship anywhere within the next 2 months, and ship MPP within 4 months, I can still theoretically ROI, but the chances of that are slim. (Especially if they get sued by the BTC refund crowed and go out of business).

I don't know, and Rodriguez is a common middle name. (obviously).

When did you spoke with Rodrigo? And why? If you don't mind to share, off course.

I would expect that they will postpone dealing with you as long as they possibly can. You have an extremely strong case for getting your BTC back and they would almost certainly lose the case if you did take them to court, but until all of Batch 1 ships or gets refunded they aren't going to want to create the precedent of giving a Bitcoin refund to anyone.
