With the recent trend that we have all witnessed the past 6 months with new coins being popped out weekly I am curious how many one might expect to have by the end of 2014?

Will they all fight to the bitter death until a Gold, Silver and Bronze is officially adopted and we all just mine the crap out of those. Or will the coins just keep stacking and stacking constantly evolving with thousands to choose from that will certainly cause a migraine headache? Or will too many coins have been launched causing everyones promotion, support, development and hash power to be spread to thin in the end causing it all to die a slow horrible death?

IMO I see around 500 coins having been produced and chugging along by then although I really would like to see just 10 staying put that we can all decide on to finally take over the world. Your thoughts?

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Something needs to be done, something that isn't being done that is. BAN shitcoins from the alt section and any promoting related to it would be a start.

I agree something will have to be done at some point if we ever want to get the masses of the general public to adopt any coin or even understand it. If we keep throwing a new coin every two days at someone they are going to turn around and run screaming. We are now starting to see a bit more innovative coins being released with some nice features and promises of a more secure coin. But really why can't we all put our minds and efforts into a few bad assmofo coins and update them with features as they grow? ok all get along now rant speech done. but seriously!!

Possibly coins have to be reviewed to get released here?
Or get someone with 100 MH/s and make them jump from shitcoins and kill them off  Wink

When you ask how many coins, I assume you mean coins that are being actively mined? What's the definition of active? Is there a minimum number of miners or hash rate to be classed as active?
