I've been working hard to prepare an important update for bitcoin.org .

Here is a preview for those who want to give feedback : EDIT, Now published

--

Most important changes:
- Right buttons are removed and merged with the menus.
- A new introductive home page with WeUseCoins video.
- A new "Getting started" page with links to external merchants and exchanges directories.
- A Re-design for "Community", "Resources" and "Download" pages.
- New links to bitcoinmining.com, coindesk, thegenesisblock, usebitcoins.info and howtobuybitcoins.info
- Titles and pages summary are consistent and centered.

This work has been done with the following goals in mind:
- Provide a better introduction to Bitcoin.
- Bring users to inform themselves before anything.
- Link more contextual useful resources with an acceptable level of warnings.
- Offer a more consistent, sober and readable layout.

Tested browsers:
IE 6+
FF 3+
OP 10+
SA 3+
CH --
Android 2.3

Future improvements:
I planned to replace the About page by a FAQ later, and rewrite the Innovation page.

Migration:
Deprecated transitional HTML and CSS code is isolated in such a way that previous layouts will remain online for translations until they have been updated, after what it will be possible to drop this code.

I like it.
Two things about the http://bitcoinhome.zapto.org/en/choose-your-wallet though:
1) The hosted wallets deserve a warning. All of them. The way it is now you hover over the first and get warned and with later ones you feel like "oh, so these are safe?". Especially when you don't really read the warning. Why not put the warning just a bit out of the way once you confirmed it? Extend the block and push the red warning up so it stays sticky?
2) Spacing! blockchain.info and coinbase appearing twice is really confusing the way it is now. Make clear that the icons belong to the colons above, please. Preferably even stronger than in my "screenshot":

Edit: I kind of got used to the voodoo-guy but yeah, really, you might consider replacing him, too. He's not "well connected", he's a walking TV antenna or a voodoo doll.

Clean and simple.

One question though, would it be possible to create it with responsive web design, as to allow for mobile users as well ?

Everyone of the Web wallets listed is able to accommodate mobile users by adjusting the design to fit smartphones. It resizes fine overall now, but some places needs work, and I don't know if is in the works.

Regards

Thanks for the feedback! That's useful.

This pull request does not change the "Choose your wallet" page, so these improvements can be done seperately.

I agree that it would be nice to somehow keep the warning visible after it has been clicked. Good idea.

Concerning the responsive design, the "Choose your wallet" page is the only page that isn't entirely available to mobiles. Yet, I would like to make it available. It's just a matter of finding the time to create a different design for mobiles with current layout. In this case, current HTML code apparently cannot work both on mobiles and scale correctly with translations. So it would probably be required to duplicate some HTML and display only the desktop or the mobile version according to the context.
