Bitcoin is not for everyone. It is extremely volatile and very speculative. Arguably, the trend towards higher prices will continue, but at some point there will be a crash. I think the crash -- the big one -- is a long way off, though. Diversification is key.
Exactly!! The volatile nature of Bitcoin makes it so different from all other currencies. It shows extreme behaviors. Either it will rise so much or there would be a huge correction as we just saw few hours back. So nobody can be cent percent sure of the next Crypto trend.

You sold everything because you felt like doing so. But now there's no looking back according to me. Just focus on your present!

Hi there demesmaeker2! As I read your story it seems that you are happy with your decision, we cannot prevent someone to cash it all out as price goes down and it hurt a lot. That is one of the reason why the price of is still going down, there are plenty of investor that prefer to exit while the price is still high enough to recover their initial investment. But I hope that this even will make new investor happy, due to the fact that the price is low and soon will sky rocketed again after holidays.  Wink

Hi there,

first I want to say this (because I think many people that feel bad will read this as well) :

I think it that the price of BTC will go up again.. I cannot be sure, noone can, but it will probably be ok again.

But....I sold everything... My cryptocurrency that is Smiley
The reason is that I can not grasp the reason of the cause behind the value changing so much whenever it happens.

"ooooh now it went up a lot"...
"aaaaah now it went down a lot"

Then you google and google and wonder....WHY? Why did it go up a lot. Why did it go down a lot.
Sometimes you can find out about some guy with influence that said something on a conference on the other side of the World.
Sometimes it is because a site like coinbase made a mistake or introduced something new..

If lots of people buy, it goes up.
If lots of people sell, it goes down.
I understand...

But if I look at the big picture, it is still a mystery Smiley

So..while I still had a little bit of profit I sold everything.

I did not put in my life savings, but still enough to make me feel bad if the bitcoin would go down a lot more.

I also have to think about taxes (I hate doing taxes!). Here in Scandinavia I have to write down everything. All the order numbers, the amounts,,.... I will take me hours of looking up how to do it properly.
And then I have  to pay 30% taxes over the profit because they validate the bitcoin like a lottery here (and I see the resemblance as well!)
I also bought it from websites from other countries and then the amounts are of course in the wrong valuta... .....horrible....  Wink

I wish all of you "bitcoiners" a very happy 2018. May all of you have profits!! (I feel like a ferengi all of a sudden)

And ehh...I probably will be back again. Just like a lottery, it is a bit of a "kick" one can get out of having a profit.

Demesmaeker

I do the same as you, I just sold all the bitcoin that I have. I can say I am lucky enough because when I sold it, It is on its peak for these year. But I also think that the sudden change in the value of the bitcoin is just normal. Maybe next year its value will sky rocket again, that's why I will not hesitate to invest again.

guys ya falling for a newbie account who is probably another alt of someones account?

Perhaps, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt as he didn't mention BCH, it seems that is the preponderance of today's conversation so I'm taking him as just frustrated. Which most of the noobs seem to be. We have seen this before, it WILL pass regain its footing and continue on.

OP, you re classic example of a weak hand. You ve got no balls to hold and trade crypto and opted to stay on the safe side. Well, Ok, not everyone can make money in crypto, you definitely will not.

Wish you good luck outside of crypto.

I get your point, i would be in the same position as you if i were a newbie just like you are at this moment.
But yes, it is true, and that is the reason of why the volatility is very important in here. It might be causing some happy moments, but it can create sad moments too.

As long as your investments don't impact your life (that is: you aren't investing with leveraged funds, don't have debt obligations, you aren't using your kids education funds), it's not really a big deal to see the market dive.   It's just a paper loss.   Billionaires lose millions and often hundreds of millions on a daily basis.   While most of us are not in that class yet, it's the same concept.   As long as you manage the other aspects of your life properly, it's not a heartbreak to be up or down a few hundred thousand in a few days time.   That said, just like stocks, there is no guarantee that any particular security will recover.  Zero is always a possibility.

Point is, learn how to control your emotions. This is one of the reason why there is a low percentage of investors in cryptocurrency that succeed. I myself already learned a lesson from my mistakes in the past and I do want to belong in that percentage. Whether its trading or holding, just stick to your plan. No matter what events might happen, don't have doubts to what you believe in. If you already sold your coins at loss, do not give up. After all, you still have money left to gamble with. When you think that you are failing, remember why you started.

Get back in now, nows a better time than ever. Almost all the coins took a dump, and now have a more stable base to grow on again. Its the base we needed to start 2018, which will be one of the greatest years in Cryptocurrency.
Next year will go down in the history books, get back in and be part of it.

I also suppose that 2018 year will be one of the "criptocurrency" years. 2017 year - it was just main start of huge criptocurrency growth.

If you made a contribution to the crypto currency for a long time, then do not panic because of the fall, in 2018 there will be growth and the main thing is to choose the right portfolio!

Yes if he realy are a contributor of bitcoin for a few years then you already know the price that you see is just a normal. If you see that the price started to fall then maybe there is a good reason why the price was going down or the price is going up. Just like now i suspected that the price is going down simply because today is christmas and newyears day. I think a lot of people was selling a part of there bitcoin just to celibrate christmas day. Nxtime dont panic with this kind of setuation.

Anyone can make their own decision whether they want to sold their btc now or hold it much longer. Op has made a lot of profits with it so if you look at the bright side, he still won.

Last few days and weeks have been extremely volatile.

I can understand you cashing out as it can become quite stressful and upredictable.

Well if it is stressful to look at the market because of its volatility then it is better to hold your coins longer, Because i have my own time management and i join bounty campaigns aside from having a market monitoring for trading.

After each sharp drop in bitcoin, someone can not stand the nerves and bitcoins are sold at a low price to themselves at a loss. As a rule, newcomers do this in the crypto currency, which are not accustomed to seeing the big volatility of bitcoins. This should not be done. Bitkoyn can sharply, and almost without cause, rise in price, and also fall sharply. This is his usual state. This behavior should be used and sharp leaps used for their needs in buying and selling.

I think it’s not a good idea to sold everything as we know that bitcoin have a lot of good qualities so there is also one the good qualities in bitcoin it just need your little part of your money to invest and when I start investment here so I use a very little amount of money and fro that I did not sell anything because bitcoin is now very committed in profit your little invest can give you a very good profit because bitcoin don’t want big investment from you.

Funny thing is, if he sold it a week ago it’s almost time to buy back in and make a huge profit. Buying and selling is how you make money with bitcoin, not holding it until you get old and gray.

It’s not a good idea to sold every ting I know that some people are asking if they use all their money here and some are saying something different so I think it’s not a good  to do so there are also some other sources to earn from bitcoin and it don’t need to sell some ting but if still you want to invest here so only your little part of your  money is enough to earn from it and I also take a start from little amount and now I have a lot of money.
