Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

I'd also like to know this.

It seems its either 1. A bitcoin crash taking down all other alts with it as collateral damage, or 2. Something in the environment of cryptos that has influenced such changes.

It is the same as the dotcom crash - it crashed the price of all internet based companies (even the healthy ones). In the cryptocrash all coins will also crash.

The difference between Cryptos and stocks or the old fashion exchanges is that we have to think different.
At the cryptos mostly individuals are trading there. The behavior is different.
Also on weekends there is  a lot of movement which not happens at the regular stock exchanges.

Previously, there was unjustified growth today, a logical correction of all altcoins and we have some bad news.
So, yesterday it became known that the emitter of tokenized dollars Tether was the victim of the attack of hackers. Also recently, Dan Morhad, director general of investment company Pantera Capital, suggested that before the growth continues, the price of the first crypto currency will collapse by 50%. So will see more correction

everything is normal, you must experience it. this is a necessary experience.
the market punishes beginners.
when I saw such a fall for the first time - I lost 50% of the deposit, the second time I earned + 50%

It is only a temporary price deep in the major coin; bitcoin which is presently having its toll on the altcoins. This dip is expected majorly at this point of the year where they will be a major transfer into the fiat values. I also believe this that it will help correct the bitcoin price and also fix space for the growth of altcoins. As long as bitcoin is given the stage alone, no other coin can really have a significant value. Some of us are really waiting for the bitcoin dip so as also help with the altcoin rise in value.

As many people are talking about, Altcoin's price decline is due to the greatly corrected Bitcoin price. And of course Altcoin exchange value will follow Bitcoin follow. This dump is only temporary before Christmas and the end of the year. Hopefully in the beginning of the year will increase dramatically.

As Dave Chapman commented earlier (managing director of the Hong Kong Octagon Strategy trading platform) and I`m agree with him:
The correction, like the one from today, is not surprising.

The rich "whales" are going out from crypto currencies to money. But it is a good chance to buy some coins when the prices is not so high.

When BTC drops so does almost everything else. Doubly so for most of the alts, that don't even have trading pairs with fiat.

I guess this is the correction people kept talking about.

Market was totally overheated. No buyers left. In addition some FUD and Bcash shilling by MSM.
Therefore profit taking in big portions and then lots of panic selling happened.
I'm not sure if we reached the bottom to be honest.
Still a possibility we could go lower, maybe testing $10k. Have a close eye on the chart for the next few days.

I think this will give an opportunity for investors of bitcoin to buy bitcoin now and hold & sell later. A lot of people in our country are getting weary in investing in bitcoin because a lot of people are mushing blasphemous rumors that bitcoin is fake and scams which alarming a lot of people especially those are not familiar in bitcoin. When in fact it is not even the way they stated it to be because bitcoin is a currency which gives financial freedom users the way they deserved it to be.

The rich "whales" are going out from crypto currencies to money. But it is a good chance to buy some coins when the prices is not so high.

I've been hearing this story of whales cashing out and switching to fiat for years.
Every time there is the tiniest drop there is a whale that exists or come conspiracy plan on how the overlords are destroying crypto.

A drop from 18 000 to 13 000 is sending people into full panic mode but a 20x increase in 20 months is pretty normal, isn't it?
Bitcoin is still up 68% in the last 30 days.  68% !!!!!!

As for the other coins, who gives a damn, they always follow bitcoin, after all, it's altcoins we're talking about.

damn it. I want to go in again but it tooks soooo long to send fiat money to the exchanges.
Such a pain. fiat money ;-)

Try sending BTC without segwit to an exchange.
It is worse than banks right now.
