sbregar97 listed an amazon gift card for sale here.  I bought it and he sent me a bogus code.  When I complained, his responses were at least entertaining.  It's not often you encounter a scammer this stupid.  Hopefully bitmit gives me the money back from escrow.

Code didn't work. Says "The amount on this gift card has already been applied to another account."

sbregar97 2013-07-26, 09:56 pm
All codes are double checked to be valid prior to being listed as for sale.
We provided what was for sale, please mark the item as shipped.
If you believe that the code was already redeemed after being sent, I suggest changing your Bitmit password.

You can't check the code. Once you put the code on your Amazon account, it can't be used on any other account. Thus I can't use the code you gave me.

sbregar97 2013-07-26, 11:03 pm
Dear coinbits,
Sorry you are having trouble with your Amazon Gift card you ordered. Please remember, we double check all codes before releasing them. It is possible to check the status of a code by either contacting live chat, or just by calling them! Please mark the item as "Shipped" as we have successfully shipped the item. If you have any more questions or concerns please feel free to ask!

If you really checked this code they would have told you it was already redeemed. So tell me what account it was applied to and when.

sbregar97 2013-07-26, 11:14 pm
Dear coinbits,
Unfortunately for safety and security issues, we no longer have liability for codes once they are sent. As previously mentioned, we checked as the payment was pending from you and Amazon told us the code was "Valid". If you have any more questions or concerns please feel free to ask!
Bobbi

coinbits 2013-07-26, 11:18 pm
If you had actually bought this code, you would have known it was valid and wouldn't have to check it. Clearly you are getting codes of uncertain origin from third parties. That's not my fault, it's yours.

sbregar97 2013-07-26, 11:27 pm
Dear coinbits,
We are sorry to hear your frustration. However, at the time of purchase we buy bulk Amazon gift cards in increments, and store them in a secure database. The database cannot be breached, and can only be accessed by multiple steps of verification. In there we had your code of $200.00. The codes at no point go through a 3rd party as the database is in cold storage, or in other terms "offline". If you have any more questions or concerns please feel free to ask!
Bobbi

coinbits 2013-07-26, 11:47 pm
Your explanation is ridiculous, but I think you've admitted enough wrongdoing for me to get the money back from escrow. Thanks.

Bitmit system message 2013-07-26, 11:48 pm
The buyer has requested to get a refund of the Bitcoins which are currently in escrow. Unless the seller does not disagree, the Bitcoins will be credited to the buyer's wallet within 7 days

Bitmit system message2013-07-26, 11:58 pm
The seller has declined to release the bitcoins which are currently in escrow

sbregar97 2013-07-27, 12:01 am
We delivered what you paid for, please release the bit coin in our favor or we will contact support

I'm sure bitmit support will be very impressed with your secure database that cannot be breached, can only be accessed by multiple steps of verification, and is filled with bulk amazon gift cards. Smiley

Is it possible to know when the code was redeemed?

If it is you have your proof...

*sigh*

I hope he wasn't trying to sell that to repay my loan.

He used it to buy those already redeemed codes.  Cheesy

I think you're delusional if you think he had any intention of paying back the loan to begin with.

I used bitmit.  Hopefully they give me the money back from escrow, since sbregar97 has admitted reselling amazon gift cards from untrusted third parties.  He claims he verified the codes, which I don't think is possible, but even if it is, there's nothing stopping the person who originally had it from redeeming it.

It was, didn't scam anyone, we can clear this deal if you want OP.
As I said before I confirm the listing I make sure the card is still redeemable by Amazon live chat.
Codes are stored on my USB.

Anyways, OP PM or post on the bitmit and we can resolve this.

So you're able to bulk purchase Amazon codes, but yet you have to borrow .5 BTC?

You obviously didn't read what I said.
I'm not an idiot who searches that, I bought the cards and are reselling them, because it's one of the highest exchange rates currently on the Market.

"bulk discount"... "one of the highest exchange rates currently on the Market"...  What a great deal!  Then you act surprised when the codes turn out to be bogus.

I was just about to start a dispute. He just tried to scam me out of 1.5btc for a laser. He claimed that he shipped it but didn't get tracking. Yet claimed to have gotten USPS Priority which automatically should come with a tracking number. I'm glad to find out bitmit escrow isn't completely bad.

-edit- this was also after telling me he couldn't sell me it for bitcoins because he was a compulsive gambler and he was scared he would throw it all away gambling. I considered offering different form of payment using an escrow but after 24hrs decided not to and canceled my order and requested my funds back. However the seller was able to decline my refund and then mark the order shipped 24hrs later. It wasn't until a few days after that that he even replied to my message and claimed he shipped it. I am curious as to why bitmit allows the seller to decline a cancellation/refund request and just instantly marked it shipped so it can't be cancelled if the order hasn't progressed anywhere near shipping yet.

Sounds like a little kid who lost his bank account funds gambling. Did biz for a small amount awhile back with him I believe, he sent first to me of course. Be careful, a lot of kids over their head in this BTC gambling world. Glad you did not fall for the scam and you won your case.

I offered to buy this same lazer for his asking price right away and asked him to send first. He got more offended than I thought was normal. This is often a reaction I see in future scammers when I ask them to send first.
