In facet, we can't deny the fact that when the price of bitcoin goes up or down so does the price of the ALT coins including ETH. It depend on the bitcoins price in the market, so there is no way it can overtake bitcoin.

If you mean capitalization, then this is real, but do not forget that about 50% of the market is occupied by bitcoin, it will be very difficult to overtake it

In the next year ETH will overtake BTC as the number 1 cryptocurrency.  I would unload your bitcoin while you still can.
I am very impressed with Ethereum, it is possible in the future Ethereum will replace Bitcoin as the best Cryptocurrency,
let's see the average ICO project using Erc20 token ..

Sorry to say that but ethereum will never overtake bitcoin. Actually chances of bitcoin getting overtaken by any altcoin is almost zero. I trust and love ethereum too but it's not an realistic prediction from my point of view.

I dont think so, maybe etheruem will be next on bitcoin. Etheruem price has a good amount but never happen that etheruem will surpass the price of bitcoin.

After all, everything can be, when it was the beginning of the year, no one thought that bitcoin would cost such money
Everything about the crypto world is unpredictable and there are just so few we can imagine, knowing that what is meant to happen, will happen eventually.

I am not sure bitcoin will remain stagnant, and a lot of progress is going on which would make bitcoin usable as currency but for now, it would be a hard time for any currency to overtake bitcoin, but nothing is easy in the world of crypto.

They will not overtake each other but co-exist in harmony. And live happily ever after. (here I would like to put some pathetic image). Why are you so bloodthirsty...

I don't think that ethereum will overtake bitcoin because bitcoin is more popular than other altcoins also bitcoins has the best value

There are two possibilities for Ethereum could overtake or surpass Bitcoin's value:
First, I really can't believe Ethereum can surpass Bitcoin's price but if possible, Ethereum must be a pure player to rival Bitcoin but although Ethereum is pumped every week I don't think it can reach Bitcoin's price in a single year, and 2018 isn't enough for Ethereum because Bitcoin is constantly increasing after some time.
Second, Ethereum can overtake Bitcoin's price if Bitcoin will dive from the sky to the ground zero.
Well, those are just my plain interpretation of Ethereum into Bitcoin and I know that there's a lot of reasons behind.

Easily. Ethereum is not just a cryptocurrency, it's a huge platform for other cryptoprojects. Thus I can overtake bitcoin that is just an overrated currency. Ethereum is also more innovative due its smart contract support. I'm sure that Ethereum once will become a king of cryptoworld Smiley

ETH will replace BTC this is possible, after the BTC is only a symbol of digital currency, for circulation, basically not become mainstream, too little currency, the price is too high, not suitable for circulation

At this point, nobody is confident that Ethereum can surpass Bitcoin's price but if only there is a possibility that Ethereum will be pumped or Bitcoin if being dumped then they'll be able to meet halfway.

That's why Verge, Dogecoin, Ripple and other high circulation supply is taking over as the top Altcoins today though they're not that more expensive than low circulation supply.
Their coin supply is billions of coins, enough to circulate around the world and could even distribute to each person alive in the world.
Bitcoin and Ethereum have limited supply that's what the reason why they're more expensive.

Eventhough i am solid fan of ethereum i will not agree that ethereum has a chance to overtake bitcoin, because bitcoin is too strong for ethereum, and bitcoin is we will always be the best cryptocurrency and ethereum is we willl always be the second, but eventhough ethereum has no chance to overtake on bitcoin, eth has still a very bright future.

Yeah, there is no way it will happen. They are two different beasts and ethereum cannot be too expensive because it is used for ICOs.

I think Ethereum isn't the Bitcoin's best rival but Bitcoin Cash and Segwit2x are.
Coin prices as I noticed are affected by major reasons like coins are more expensive when the project is very effective and has positive impact in the community, coins when has a limited supply like tens or a hundred of millions circulating supply, when there's a huge support and investment that causes overall market capital is higher.

there is a big chance that Eth will be next to Btc but it will take a lot time to reach Btc level, back to where both Btc and Eth, they do have similarities.

I think not in next year. but in the 2019 definitely ETH will replace BTC as number one cryptocurrency. At the end of 2018 i think 1 eth will cost something around 5000$ . and BTC will be at same price.
Only my guess.

it will depend on the rise and the increase in the investment in ethereum and the ethereum in the world, but I think that bitcoin is no longer able to eliminate the ethereum because more and more bitcoins are known and more investors in bitcoin so I think I should wait a long time so that he can lower the price of bitcoin.

I am a big support of ETH but I don't think it will catch bitcoin anytime soon.

Although it is the only alt coin that will come close to Bitcoin.

I dont think ETH will pass BTC, or atleast not in the near future. But ETH is still a strong currency.
