Quick warning...

DO NOT TRY TO EDIT YOUR ORDER QUANTITIES.

An order quantity edit (bug, sorry, just discovered...) removes the existing order and places a new order at the appropriate amount.

Obviously new orders are blocked right now, so really it's just deleting your order.

I'm going to quickly fix this bug and assume that those of you that tried to game the system by editing your quantity did so by "accident" ...

If you really, truly meant to cancel your order, then by all means go ahead and do it again.  Wink

Cheers.

Can we safely spend the coins that were bid but now are over the adjusted amount?

+1

Burnside, many people got screwed over. How can you so easily let this go?
Why aren't you doing everything you can to get us our shares?

It's hardly about the shares anymore for me. It's how this is being handled what annoys me most at this point.

Its price is not a very relevant factor in its adoption....

Burnside - when will the btc not used be released?

Either when the caching of your personal order book times out, or when it gets reset by you doing an action. (eg, if you place and cancel an order it should reset it.)

Cheers.

It's prevented me from realising either the profits or losses from a massive risk.... that's the way the world works, nothing free about it. Regardless, this clusterfuck of retardedness prevented something it shouldn't have. Be it my profit or loss.

Please.  there was a limited quantity of shares and people who got in first and paid the most attention to the thread got 'em.  Labcoin didn't "owe" you anything. You can still purchase shares on the market once trading actually starts.

Really has nothing to do with that. Even people who knew about the IPO for a while didn't necessarily hold that much coin on BTCT. People who got screwed just happened to transfer their money to that POS site at the wrong time.

So wait... Burnsides does NOTHING about the glitch that made it so i missed out on ordering shares... because my balance would not display.  But when there was a glitch that let me resolve that issue, and increase my order to what it should have been in the first place... that bug gets reversed and fixed?  Really?

I am trying to prioritize things by "number of people affected".

I apologize for the issue, there is nothing I can do about it this second and resetting the clock would just result in the same thing happening again.  Another rush of deposts, which wouldn't all get credited, which would mean more pissed off users.  Bottom line is that the actual solution to the problem is potentially weeks away, depending on how much dev time it is going to take to address.

Why all the hate on LABCOIN and Burnside?

Yes this could have been handled better, and yes the deposits had issues (I got screwed myself, could have gotten a lot more shares).
But these guys have been doing everything to make this process as smooth as possible. Have you guys ever seen a BTC IPO that went perfectly smooth?

Good job both on making the best of a bad situation.

A couple of things to pay attention to on the next IPO:
- Make sure BTCT.CO is working as intended even during heavy load (deposits)
- As an IPO issuer you should stick to your issued timeline and plan even if it pisses off people.

Found my posts helpful? Consider buying me a beer :-)!:

problem is, it could not be predicted, that this IPO would induce a load this huge, and crash the deposit system.

People who did their deposit in time should still be getting their shares. How is this impossible?

Why all the hate on LABCOIN and Burnside?
I personally I'm quite happy to have learned new things about doing IPOs, and this is fine and good.

I'm a bit worried, however, noticing how little care was given to not following the posted rules.

Bugs happen, we know that, and he's already working on that.
But rules should be followed, and there was really nothing preventing that...

If you moved you're bid up you are included.

No because I removed my higher bid after swede said likely scenario was book would be wiped as said here

Stop trading/block order placing, wipe all open orders and announce the official start. - btct.co will probably go down under the load, but imho this feels like the cleanest solution.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=263445.msg2838972#msg2838972

I'd suggest sending some coin to Matt4054 for his calming weed. It's more likely to help than asking for a hot tub time machine reset button.

I always remind myself that btct is currently in beta so problems and gremlins happen.
